Thats the short term view.
The long-term view is that all future rises we get will be compounded on top of this rise. SO a 3% rise followed by a 2.6 % rise is a 5.68% rise. But a 2.2% followed by the 2.6% = 4.85% pay rise.
That means a difference of nearly 1% pay rise just for this year and that difference will just bigger and bigger for each pay rise going forward.

Well yes TBT if the figures are anything like you've illustrated there then it is a no brainer... but if the higher amount is someting like 0.05% higher then it's a different matter.

Network and Professional Drivers already have less than a 39 hour working week as they do not have paid meal reliefs. INetwork and Professional Drivers in Mail Centres
will get an extra 2.6% pay rise based on the hour reduction. However there are discussions about reintroducing paid meal reliefs so it depends on how successful this is.
I don't see this in the agreement or is thetalking till September?
I have just spent an hour or two reading the agreement. Not sure if it said about an extra 2.6% but it did mention discussions about paid meal relief would take place for those who don't OFFICIALLY receive it.

Your monthly/weekly top line basic will drop with reduced hours, although your hourly rate will increase.
This reduces the 5% rise being touted about.
You haven't read the agreement properly. There is a 5% rise plus an additional rise later. It is a three year pay deal. The shorter working week (SWW) plan is to take us from a 40 hour to a 35 hour week but you still get paid for a 40 hour week. It's going to take a few more years to get to the 35 hours though.
The pay rise is groundbreaking in that most people will not get a pay rise anything like that percentage. We have to be aware of course that there is no such thing as a free lunch. The written agreement is very vague in terms of working conditions and delivery methods. Reading between the lines I can see everything I thought would happen and more that I hadn't imagined. Given the result of the strike ballot everyone is fired up this time so the future is truly 'an undiscovered country'.
