VR payment is worked out on your last 26 weeks before your Last Day of Service. It includes basic pensionable pay plus any pensionable allowances. Ex-phg allowance is pensionable, I don't know about Workplace Coach allowance, but I think it is pensionable. Also if you get a shift allowance, that would be pensionable.giant wrote:Is VR only worked out on your basic pay or do allowance's like ex phg and workplace coach get included as well?

So Royal Mail want to recruit an additional 120 staff who they don't need? Wow! They must be be a really altruistic company now, employing people just to give them money for no reason. God bless Moya!dvbuk55 wrote:Well they seem to be able to manage with 120 short so perhaps they aren't necessary and it's just a question of maintaining the old status quo especially if they haven't had a revision for 10 yearsbaldrick wrote:They aren't the only employer, and that's why they can't fill PT vacancies. Any other reason you can think of why there are 120 unfilled vacancies in NW London? Besides your blinkers that is.

What makes you think they're recruiting and as for giving people money for nothing, well why break the habit, they do it now.baldrick wrote:So Royal Mail want to recruit an additional 120 staff who they don't need? If your extra days are OT, I believe any OT hours up to a total of 39 hours pw, including your contracted hours will be pensionable, but anything over the 39 hours total is not pensionable.
So the pensionable pay would count towards any VR payment, if they are in the last 26 weeks of service before VR.

Well if they have 120 vacancies I would think they must be looking to fill them. And I know a friend of mine was interviewed and offered a PT job, which he didn't take up.dvbuk55 wrote:What makes you think they're recruiting and as for giving people money for not hing, well why break the habit, they do it now.baldrick wrote:So Royal Mail want to recruit an additional 120 staff who they don't need? Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
Well when I took VR I had already taken my pension at 60, and opted out of the new Workplace Pension, so I wasn't in any RM pension, but my VR payment was based on my pensionable pay, including ex-PHG allowance and late shift allowance. I went on late shift for my last 6 months to increase my VR payment, which it did by £4,800.stodgy88 wrote:thanks for prompt reply, this might sound stupid but if im not in any pension will this pay still be classed as pensionable thanks.

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
So I understand it, for reading all posts on here, RM are gunning for Full Timers to take VR.
I'M 44 with 25 years service, how much am I worth?
Seems RM want people with good contracts to leave and be replaced with lower contract workers.
I do feel that this is just the start of a nasty era within this company.
God help us.............

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
If you are given a VR quote it will be based on the last 26 weeks from when it is worked out, and your payment will be based on that.stodgy88 wrote:how can royal mail give people a figure when for example i usually work 23.5 hours ,but at moment im work around 40 . thanks.
But they reassess your payment about 8 weeks after your Last Day of Service, and if you are due any more because your pensionable pay increased after you were issued the quote, you will be paid the difference then.
As I said I went on late shift for the last 6 months. My quote was issued in February, and my LDOS was in June, so the whole period of late shift allowance wasn't included in the quote. I did get a payment for the difference about 8 weeks after leaving (about £1500).

Well don't count on getting VR. It might depend on where you are, and if your office is offered VRs on how many people apply for it.seeker019 wrote:So I understand it, for reading all posts on here, RM are gunning for Full Timers to take VR.

But according to the MTSF2 VR Ready Reckoner, at 44 years with 25 years service you would get 93.75 weeks VR payment.

This thread should be locked as it will get ugly. Absolutely pathetic that this is turning into a north /south argument. This is exactly what RM love. Divide and then conquer.

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
the DOM had his ready reckoner on the table today....it goes on age and length of service. it said someone who was 58 yrs old and 19 yrs service would get 104 weeks pay. someone who is 57 yrs would have to have 20 yrs service to get 104 weeks. 56yrs would need 21yrs to get 104 weeks etc
