Re: Being a Scab??
I work at a small office we don't have a union rep the only interest the union takes is when there's a ballot then they pay us a visit to tell us what to vote. Nevertheless Without a union rep the dom can play their little games with impunity and we get stiffed left right and centre. If you don't support the unions you'll get shafted. So I for one will be on strike! But you'll always get the self-serving tossers who are too stupid to recognise whose side their on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Being a Scab??
I have been fortunate in that in the 40 odd years working in Royal Mail,in all the strikes including the 7 week one in 1971 we have had very few going into work.
We all over the years have had to look into the mirror and ask ourself are we doing the right think by withdrawn our labour and going without wages in support of our principals, but I always came to the same conclusion that we have to stand up for what we believe is right and if it means going short for a spell then so be it.
We have to stand up for our terms and conditions because no one else will.

Yes totally agree ,a postie has 2 options 1- Support the union in protecting our conditions ok you might say the union let us down in recent strikes but they are trying to protect our conditions as best as they can .2- Support the management who are trying to walk us into the ground simple choice .I would rather stand with my MATES at the gate than sit in an office with people who would stab you in back .In the world wars there was men who knew by going over the trenches they would die BUT THEY STILL WENT OVER, but there again there was men put to the post and shot !! .

people cant afford it...!!! they have children to feed... ffs... christmas around the corner. Royal Mail and CWU know alot of staff are between a rock and a hard place... and really... if someone doesnt want to strike... they should be entitled to make up their own mind! without feeling victimized... FROM EITHER SIDE...
if they dont care about their jobs... then that is their issue... why should they care about yours???
Call me a scab or not- but my decision is truely my own... and i've not made my mind up... but i wont be bullied and harrassed because i want to feed my children... if i cant feed them later on... i'll get another job... simple!
i hope they dont strike, and i hope royal mail see sense...
but they wont care now- they've made their money.

"Can't afford it, sick granny, disabled kid, mortgage to pay, kid at uni, car loan, gas bill due, holiday booked yada yada yada"
At least the scabby b*stards could try and think of something original as an excuse. All those (and more) have been done to death now.

In truth I can afford to go on strike, and will not be crossing any picket lines.
I am no longer a number :-)

Re: Being a Scab??
If we're going to strike fine, but I don't want to be out for 1 poxy day then go back in the next day and have 2 days work to deal with, can't see any sense in that, all we got out of it was a thinner wage packet.

They do have food banks over here now while striking will impact your income for the short term no agreement in the short term will impact in the long term and forever more. A little pain now is better than a lifetime of pain!

Re: Being a Scab??
Personally I am going to work, why would I betray the company who feeds my children?? Being jobless for two years and RM was a life saver to me. Its the time for me to return their favour and be grateful. Its a matter of principal!
