Totally agree, work your contracted hours (at a decent enough pace), take your Meal Reliefs and Relaxation Allowance (which are either scheduled or built into Planning Values) , follow Safe Systems of Work, use the correct tools for the job.happymackem wrote:We don't have to strike for fooks sake work to rule or overtime ban would work but this union has lost it's balls
Not a PENNY lost in basic wages, no grounds for ANY form of disciplinary action (except for the DOMs/Linos who resort to B&H in utter frustration). They will not be able to cover the workload with scheduled hours and so there will be service failures and a drop in Q of S. When they draught in managers from other units or functions report it to HQ as they are undertaking work that is proper to another trade union for which I do not believe there is any agreement.

It won't work Budfrog.Budfrog wrote:Not a PENNY lost in basic wages, no grounds for ANY form of disciplinary action (except for the DOMs/Linos who resort to B&H in utter frustration.
We have too many part-timers now who need the money to live on and if i'm entirely honest too many greedy members who will never pass up the chance of docket.
It would be messy, impossible to police and from day one can only deteriorate which means it's only a waiting game for RM.
I've been involved in work to rule and overtime bans and in my experience they only work as part of a wider campaign of strikes.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: NATIONAL TALKS - THE FUTURE OF THE ROYAL MAIL GROUP
Unfortunately Budfrog working to rule is not going to make any massive impact on Royal Mail getting the mail delivered. It will be too easy for them to employ casuals/agency staff to make sure it is moved. There are too many people out there looking for work that will jump at the chance. All out strike is different because they need the experienced posties for the indoor work and if 80,000 or more take to the gate, the business will grind to an immediate halt. This time it must be out until an acceptable agreement is reached. Too many people will go into work if the strike is called for ad-hoc days, seeing them as meaningless, especially in the subs where there is none or little cwu co-ordination.

Re: NATIONAL TALKS - THE FUTURE OF THE ROYAL MAIL GROUP
It isn't just a matter of the future of RM it is also the future of the union. What transpires in the next few months will be critical to it's survival as a negotiating organisation for the members. The union needs to get down and dirty and embrace the shop floor to ensure it has the support to negotiate with any sense of purpose and strength. Fail to do that and the organisation will merely be seen as an insurance policy without any power to change terms and conditions and a certain inability to recruit new members. I mean it's looked on by some as that already!
