My way of dealing with this is not to give a toss, come in work to my time, any threats made will just go in one ear and out the other, I just shrug my shoulders and offer them the opportunity to show me how to "improve my work" also they regularly decline to come out with me on delivery, since I don't care they don't know how to deal with that, nothing intimidates me also if somebody pisses me off I just go into "awkward mode" by working exactly to the rules.

Guess who is getting stressed and its not me :dance

Well lets be honest we ( delivery staff) we sold out. We had the embarrassment of the CWU selling the changes to us on RM's behalf and then anyone who has had a revision has seen what the deal delivered. Our place has seen a massive increase in inequality with some rounds actually getting smaller and others massively oversized. Worse bit is it seems all the fights gone out of us ( myself included) but what else can you do?

Now the anti privatisation campaigns starting up again how can we trust the CWU to really fight our corner? RM will probably offer us a drop in pay and conditions with the sweetner of Mon-Fri working and how many of us are going to refuse?

Still, soon be Christmas :Very Happy

Clearly there are some issues which the union need to react to and stop. Royal Mail have written to the union a list of 50 offices which are failing across all 5 regions and where they will be outside help to fix including a new PIR. Royal Mail also want Price Waterhouse coopers accountants visiting those offices which the union want clarification on .

The union needs to resolve the failing revisions and stop any bullying.

However there is going back to the old way of delivery be that bikes , bag on shoulder etc. The Landscape has changed Royal Mail held a conference of managers on Wednesday concerning the next steps for the postal market.

Royal Mail now recieve 50% of its revenue from packets alone. it's a very competitive markets , most areas have grown by 11% , some of the more rich areas have grown by 16%. Due to DSA and the digital revolution revenue from letters and flats are declining.

spoken like a true manager or a rep that dont want to lose his ft rel"letters and flats are declining." bollocks

Royal Mail have managed to capture further Internet companies . Royal Mail's strategy is to ensure all packets are tracked in the future hence the order of 120,000 PDAs and automation for packets.

Royal Mail's strategy of only going up the path once for all mail including packets is still on their agenda but they now recognise they will need bigger CDVs in some offices.

The office where I work is on this list, No B&H going on and office completes everyday, BUT! tools are not being used, breaks are ignored, the duty builder is not used, but this is to the members working as they get early finishes and book plenty of overtime. Had the the transformation bonus but no other real transformation has happened, still work to old rules. No cars are taken on delivery as shared vans are used. Is this a success or failure? When the methods revision was planned many years ago, it was destined to fail. RM do not want to revisit the revision as it will cost a small fortune to put right, basically starting again. But staff are happy, overtime spend is ridiculous! all staff permanent, extra full time jobs created, 1 in 4 rejected by members but those who wanted more Saturdays got the chose of 1 in 2 Saturdays off! How do you feel this should be resolved?? or do we carry on regardless?? Maybe this review will put us where we should be(in a right mess). The only reason my office is working is the DOM just lets us get on with it, he knows if he enforced the changes barriers would go up and mail would fail!

Having seen all the emails regarding this issue , the Folowing is a quote from an email from a senior Royal Mail Manager : All of these offices would fall into the not working as well as they could catogary against one or more of the following metrics

Employee Engagement
Q of S
Customer Complaints
Unit Effiency

I plan to look at the working well sites in the new year.

The Union's postion is for members not to get involved until it gets a terms of reference.

First visit from a price waterhouse and cooper chap, DUM said he was here to make observations but obviously he's here to see why we are over spent.

During a work time learning (one of the very few that we have) the pwc chap was in on the meeting from the start, i kept watching his face and he looked bored as hell until someone mentioned "overtime spending" and his face lit up and he began to take an interest.

I'll keep ya posted on further events!

Which part is Price Waterhouse evaluating do you think and if the "involvement" is scheduled for a work time learning it's going to be pretty hard to ignore it - well in the real world that is. As RM have managed to drag a third party into the equation do you not think that with the "new understanding" and "trust" they might have invited someone from the CWU to oversee the proceedings - you know like a member of the PEC/NEC someone who is involved in "negotiations" to give them an insight into what's going on rather than receive it second hand from RM.

No chance DVB. This is yet another snub to the 'new relationship', and it is about time the CWU realise this, before it is too late and we have another Virgin Media to deal with. Royal Mail have long since cared about anything that has been agreed, unless it can be seen to be making savings. The agreement in their eyes has never been about care for the workforce and taking weight off the shoulders. It has always been about 'How can we make these bstrds work harder and pay them less'. D2ds into workload, savings for Royal Mail-decrease in average earnings for staff. Deviously or non deviously failing to pay genuine overtime worked, savings for Royal Mail-decrease in average earnings for staff. I could go on and on with improper use of flexibility rules etc etc. The CWU had better start putting up a fight very soon or there will not be a recognised union in Royal Mail as it is becoming more and more obvious that Moya knows that the fight has gone out of the grass roots.

At the risk of being given a barrage of abuse for having an opposite views, well here is my two pennys worth ,My understanding is that Moya has sanctioned PWC coming those offices to give a report on how things improve , they have no authority to change anything in the office and they cannot give proposals. These are experts in their own field but they have no idea of the Postal Business and have no time or desire too.

Royal Mail managers don't like it and have been told by her that you have being saying your fix them for two years and they are still got problems.

Now the problems range from the Sid and Sarah's were never done , the packet counts were never done , the manuel adjustments were not done, the staff survey were not done and a whole range of other things were not done.

On the poor quality of service , well we know that some postcodes are not achieving the miniumn floor and are solely down to poor revison planning and unrealistic savings targets.

Customer complaints well again we know that when the service dropsin the area complaints increase. But what is getting the biggest complaints is it packets , CDVs or firms.

Cost , of course Royal Mail want to understand why an office is not achieving the savings which were agreed within the revision and why some offices are now spending more than they did prior to the revison coming in.

Now why would the union not challenge Royal Mail on these measures , was the savings realistic , did they take too many walks out , were the CDVs loops done. Properly, were the packet counts done, was hours flexed upto meet the change in traffic, did the staff recieve the attendance patterns they want .

of course some on here would rather sit in front of their computers and criticise , rather than suggest this is a start , which the CWU now need to expand to ensure that the reviews are done to resolve the problems in those offices and elsewhere.

As far as i'm aware the CWU hasn't been invited to this particular party dingo so how we would go about expanding it is debatable.
This isn't about resolving member's issues it's about resolving Royal Mail's issues.
The two are polar opposites at the moment.

Dingo, I dont understand the point that Royal Mail are not achieving the savings that were agreed during the revision. The BT2010 was not supposed to be about savings, it was about new structures of working to take account of the change in the things we deliver. ie less mail, more packets. Why has the CWU allowed savings to creep into this mess.
