no compulsory use of trolley

Can I just say that if you've got a trolley use it, the damage isn't just done to your back and shoulders but to every joint south of that. Take if from a 40 yr old who's knees are completely shot to bits

sounds like common sense to me, the problems will arise when the bags end up being 9,10,11...........kg.

the rep should be sending this up the line so a definate figure can be "AGREED".

how long have RM/CWU been in these talks now?

FFS lets have an interim agreement that protects the workforce, every office seems to be making it up as they go along.

ok, then the CWU should be looking at clocking in/out machines, all data to be used for overtime calcs and there would be no insentive for the runners to continue chasing time.

How can any organisation agree one size fits all pre-determined weight for using bags, (for the majority of the working day) when 'all' encompasses a huge range in age, build stength, stamina etc.

That's the beauty of using a 'machine' it takes reduces the effort for all 'machinists', now that's Common Sense.

Not using a trolley? Surely that's just the tip of the iceberg! Like many of us I travel through neighbouring DOs areas at work and play. Carrying Pouches seems a minor problem. I still see posties in Post Revision DOs using their own cars, nice new ones that are obviously not covered by insurance now, and I was surprised when I saw several Posties ride past on Civvie Push Bikes with pouches over their shoulders! They'd had their RM bikes removed after their revision.

It doesn't matter though because they get to knock off early and their DIM has an easy life! What a Company!

you cannot say you as the planner said in an earlier posting, only use a trolley if a bag is over such and such a weight.
Most of the time you use trolleys due to the fact you need 2 bags per loop due to the amount of packets.
I use one for the 8 bundles and the other for the packets

You have 3 problems.

1.The members are not the sharpest and seem to still think that quick is best.
2.Management don't like the trolleys because they cost time.
3.HQ and in particular Dave Joyce doesn't seem interested...strange after all the "doing the job properly" stuff.

The bottom line is you've had a delivery methods revision based on the use of trolleys,those are the methods assigned and their use is mandatory.
If your manager wants to change the delivery methods he is basically rewriting the revision without CWU input and that is executive action...time for disagreement on monday morning and as you know during disagreement status quo remains in place so no pouches.
You may also care to remind him that there is no agreement on longer than 3.30 delivery spans with pouches...
