Did you expect anything different? :chuckle

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Wiggins79 wrote:DVB- I am pretty certain we aren't being given true or accurate figures. I accept there is a lot less mail with M/1st and 2nd and in the corner, but the overall volumes aren't massively different. And thats before you factor double the amount of d2d's we are delivering weekly now at no extra cost to RM. But then as we probably all know, figures and statistics are purely tools used to prove something you have already decided on at best, or at worst often just guessed or even completely made up. And that is something this government, the previous government and most likely the next government will keep on doing. They just love their stats and figures. Of course the devil is in the detail. It is so frustrating to see and hear all the reports from Hooper about how mail volumes are falling, and then they quietly add about facing increasing competition. What competition? True competition would be for a company to set up a rival delivery network for all forms of mail/ packets etc. countrywide.
As you say there is a campaign to up the threat of competition BUT after all this time where is it? Many have said the likelihood of a competitive delivery service was about as likely as finding rocking horse s**t and the reason is because it is labour intensive and expensive and there is a tame work horse who will do it at less than cost.

what about extra sats off . answ. dont think you get any more than 1 in 4 off ;liar so wheres the options

wheres the r13 if rm dont implement properly their breaking agreements yet again
they either stick to it nationally or suffer what will be about to happen
scotland is not any different to london about time they realise this and we pay in our union subs same as any other so want same protection.

Now with Privatisation i ain't gonna see next years payrise or the magical figure of 3.5% in 2012, Phantom Shares are gonna be worth about the same as a roll of Andrex and have the same use. All these years of bursting my balls being lied too that am a valuable member of RM and with our help can drive RM onwards only to be shat on from above.

OK peps. at the end of the day you work a shift 10 hour/ 8 hours/ 4 hours or what ever you do! you can only do so much in that time! If management are trying to get you to go faster or do 10 hours work in 8 hours, tell him it is no possible, yeah he will be on your back, ops sorry he will have a nice wee chat and try and convince you that this is possible, stick to your guns and go through the hassle and "bullying" that is deneighed, its a hard process but if we all stick together then they should get the message :chuckle

That's what I was trying to say- so called "competition" is no such thing at all. Even if RM to get the sorting side of the entire operation running EXACTLY as our "competitors" do, they still have to pay out millions extra for the delivery side of things. Such a labour intensive, country-wide operation will never be cheap to run. I'm sure anyone with the nouse and money to get up and running could set themselves up in the mail sorting game. After all, you just need a fleet of lorries, machines to sort the mail, and a relatively small amount of staff to drive/ make sure machines are running etc. To employ and organize several thousand staff throughout the country, kit them out with equipment etc. to actually deliver and sort the stuff, whether it be in a street with all-numbered terraced houses, rurals with 2-mile long tracks to the house, suburban streets with houses which all have names instead of numbers- well just the thought of it is mind-boggling. Despite what politicans and all those with a vested interest in seeing the demise and breakup of RM like to claim, there is no mail-delivery company to rival us in such a large scale. It's a company the whole country should be proud of. Instead we are treated like an old mangy dog that is no use to it's master anymore and is being taken out the back to be shot. Everyone involved in this whole privatisation debacle should hang their heads in shame. The internet is not infallible, and I shudder to think of a day when the only form of communication is via computer, mobile phone or whatever. And I'm not some over the hill, stick-in-the-mud, close to retirement luddite. I'm in my early 30's, have used computers in some form nearly all my life, and do get some enjoyment out of using them for various reasons. When I started to work for RM 7 years ago, I was glad to be joining what I thought was a great company. Now, like all of the people in our office, I'm cynical about anything and everything to do with the company. I don't trust any announcement whether it be from management or the union. I just feel that in the wider view of the current situation not one party involved actually gives a second thought to us, the front-line staff who keep the operation running from day to day.
OK, rambling rant over.

The difference between Junk Email and Junk mail is.....

You delete junk emails before reading

You open and read junk mail before binning it (just in case)

That's a mighty big difference

The 1 and only major problem with RM is - Local Agreements thats what is DESTROYING this Company, now is the time for RM to have 1 way of working/operating across the board and every office no matter where you are all singing from the same worksheet, NATIONAL AGREEMENT is the way forward. 1 office does it 1 way another office does it another no wonder this company is a joke :left:

dvbuk55 wrote:It does make you wonder if we are being given the true figures. Mail is falling, but it is not evident on delivery in volume, so it must be the revenue is falling. Stop paying for D2D and an immediate increase in revenue, get the pension deficit sorted and you have yet another 280million pa increase in profit, cut the staff by another 24000 and you have another increase in profit...........................so all in all someone would potentially pick up a profitable organisation BEFORE they start their own cull and modernisation. :hmmmm

don't no if you no this or not BUT when Royal Mail say the volume of mail is dropping-there only counting 1s and 2nd class mail...there not counting DSA,thats Y your taking more out,but they say it's falling so to some extent 1s and 2nd class is falling, but the DSA is growing(how long for sure i don't no coz i just read about TNT selling off the mail section coz there making to much of a loss on it+there making thousands redundant) there sticking to parcels etc etc...

Ok OK - I missed the irony OK, ffs, it's not easy dealing with senility you know, and it isn't just a mental thing..............just be thankful you only have to put up with my postings and don't have to wash my underwear...................when I remember to put it on that is.
