If you dont like it leave?mclovin wrote:So why we being told there are options, if in fact these options are not available?pickaname wrote:It all depends on when the WSM mail gets to you. If youre last you wont be able to have the ten hour days as the last round will be at around 10am. The menu will be contructed from these factors. Im only interested in an 8 hour day 5 day week, 10 hour days are no good.
Saying they want a 10 hour day before the duties are made up, is totally different from seeing what the duty consists of and choosing it in a repick.
I dont think there should be a repick anyway, just go down the seniority list and find out what they would like, then adjust their current duty accordingly.
Whatever is left gets picked by the lower seniority.
Its a case of like it or lumps again im afraid m8. If the majority want 10 hours days and its tenable then tough titties.
I have been told by my gaffer we'll be trying as best we can to get people the individual option THEY want.
10 hour days wont fit in with my childcare, so no, that is NOT an option to me or 35% of the office.
Thats what ive been told on numerous occasions.

Yeah I know Geezer.Geezer wrote:mclovin
The whole office doesn't have to all go on the same shift pattern.
If you have enough groups of people to do 2, 3 even 4 different patterns and you can show it can be resourced for holiday and sick ect you could have all 4.
This will mean everyone getting involved in Revision talks and coming up with idea's themselves, i have made a decision to get involved in my office not to help RM
but to try and and make sure everyone in the office gets a fair crack of the whip and doesn't just get what's easy for RM and the manager put on them.
You dont seem to understand.
Surely you cant revise the office after a pref exercise then some people change their mind because they dont like the duty theyre left with leaving surplus duties with attendance patterns nobody wanted.
It can only work if lets say 8 people want 10 hour days and 16 people want 8 hour days. Then once the duties have been restructured the 8 people only get a choice from the 8 duties with 10 hour days, and the 16 people who preferred 8 hour days in the pref exercise, choose from the 16 restructured duties with 8 hour days.....and so on...!!

Also the Pref is just that a preference exercise. It doesn't or shouldn't matter if people change their minds anyway.
At every stage it has to be signed off, so if people want bits changed then make the Manager and the Rep try other things, don't just let it go !
When you get to the actual walks being made up, what they will do and what shift patterns they will use you can even then make the planners,
make changes to try and make it exceptable. All i will would say to everyone is be proactive ask questions and if you don't like what you hear
talk to your Area Rep or Div Reo, don't just except somthing you think is unfair or just plain wrong, Let your Manager and Rep know your on the case and watching their every move.
