seems to me that the be all and end all of this deal is the protection of jobs. i suppose the union are stuck between a rock and a hard place. we say no i think alot of jobs go, RM do what they want and the whole business implodes, ie we go on strike they sack the lot of us rememploy us on crap contracts.

so what do we decide? accept it and keep your job security for how many years or decline and watch it go tits up!

The part the really bothers me is the d2d not going into work load but say in 2-3 years time us delivery staff doing 10 lots a week, do we reep the benefits of Rm increase in this traffic???? Do they give us a substantial increase in the supplement?

also to there will be very little overtime, i think that RM want us as a bonus driven work force. Fine but only if the bonuses are achevable. Personally i can't remember the last time i got a bonus. concerned, very concerned

steven100 wrote:1.7% in walking speed is hardly anything we'll still be going at 4 mph. Another flaw in the deal, our union leaders should go out on deliver and walk at 4 mph. I'll be voting no if this is correct.
if it was a significant decrease then they would just tell you the speed.

could be wrong but i get that to be 3.932MPH??? is that right ...if so what the f**k is the point!

Should point out that the truth has pointed out in another thread that there is alot of inaccurate information going about i hope he's right.

MoNkEyBoY wrote:Seen as the union cant be bothered to communicate with its members it only right that i put up what R/M and the CWU have agreed amongst themselves.

And before some get themselves in a flap YES we the membership will have a vote on whether to accept or reject it.

As far as im aware by the end of next week or sooner the talks will be concluded.

1.D2DS will be incorporated into your daily work load. There will also be a 52 week payment for those that qualify the limit will be lifted to 4-5.

2. Shorter working week.

3. 3 year pay deal with a pay rise each year and the final pay rise in 2012 will be more significant than the previous 2.

4. A significant lump sum payment (I think this is the golden carrot) Also there will be lump sum payment made through up and coming revisions.

5. An extension to last letter by no more than 1 hour.

6. There will be no defined delivery time like we have at present 3.5hrs ( Your working day will still be 7-8 hrs)

7. Saturday deliveries to be the same as any other day through the week (Longer)

8. Walk speeds have been reduced by 1.7% on the pegasus software also the time allowed for knocking on doors getting signatures is rising to 3.8-3.9%

9. New duty structures.

I can not give any more info on the points above as they were vague when said to me these are not rumours they are fact.
Does you know anything thats been agreed for mailcentre staff m8??

D2D'S apparently are 'lucrative' no idea why many years ago we couldn't have taken 5 per week (1 a day meaning 100% of our delivery points would help on pegasus rubbish too) and getting paid for them, all of them, more cash for us and RM.

As usual if this is the new agreement then some will do more than others for the supposed same job, i take 650 D2D'S some in my office have over 800 whilst others only 300, so unless the payments are based on how many you will be taking then plenty will feel agrieved each day as they struggle with more D2D'S than many other colleagues in their office.
My bags are fuller and heavier than ever I regularly get 3 packet bags and average around 30 door knocks per day which makes getting anywhere near the 4 mile per hr run rate an impossibility.

With internet shopping still on the increase and now more D2D'S in the bags too, a hard job will soon be impossible.

Soon the only people able to cope with a typical RM walk will be young iron men in training.

I think to many decisions are made by people who never have or never will again have to carry all this.

One of the Union's big ideas was to have the working week Mon-Fri with Saturday off seems it now becomes a normal day, I work the 6 day week rota with 1 week off in 6 last thing I need is a long day on the 6th day it is bad enough now walking around like a zombie.

An extra 1hr on the last letter not happy about this either and can see many problems with this, firstly a lot of us pick up our kids from school, although a push at times finishing at 14.15 leaves me a little scope to go over complete my delivery before heading to school, finishing at 15.15 means I have to forgoe my break and cut off without completing the delivery, they may find a lot of previously non problematic offices soon with backlogs of mail due to this reason. Summer! what fun that will be working in the height of it every day, soon it will be 'Mad dogs,Englishmen' and postmen who go out in the midday sun!

In all honesty looks to me like they just want to infuriate and make the job so unrecognisable to most that we all leave and they then just employ a whole load on new contracts, meaning high staff turnovers temporary or agency staff filling the gaps, leading to a much poorer service, I supose as long as they make dough it's all that matters to them.

I believe the agreement arrives at CWU today....................................

the dto door lump payment is gonna cause conflict amongst say floaters who dont do them at mo ,but in a few weeks time could be doing them in the resign, when a few will pick up their own duty .Also only been a floater for a few months ,always done dtd for years before that. Not really intersted in the money bit at mo although important ,last time we got offered money a lot of dafties voted yes.

One other thing about deliveries....it's all well and good raising the D2Ds but the delivery span?! In the city centres it's not so bad with your trolleys but around here (in the Welsh valleys) the terrain is just not appropriate so it's all on the shoulder....5 hours walking with all that crap will kill me, let alone some of the older members!
Waiting to see the final agreement but it doesn't look promising ATM

:Applause Spot on post. Makes you wonder why the f**k we ever went on strike eh??

Big daz, some people at our DO say it will make the job easier with vans........... How?? will you be able to drive these vans upto the front doors of house's? will you be able to get these vans into flats with lifts and take em upto the 10 th floor??? At the end of the day its just a mobile drop box nothing more, you still have to cart around all the shite on your back plus alot f***ing more now by the sounds of it, for less pay!!! This will never work and will prove to be more costly to RM in the future. What happens when a van breaks down?, ie has a puncture etc. What happens if it gets nicked?? or broken into as they will be sitting ducks for all thieves out there and also opportunists. The walks are obviously going to be bigger plus the packets and D2D's will go through the roof, just wondering if these little corsa vans will be big enough to transport virtually 3 average walks around everyday, nevermind around christmas time, the even buisier periods. I asked a manager about this today he said that you may have to use your drop points aswell LOLOL!! What a great idea from the twats at the top eh??? Spend millions of our money on poxy vans we dont need yet still use our drop points just incase eh. RM will be wasting another few million soon on mercedes sprinters.

Well other leaflet firms pay around £33 per thousand, almost exactly double the amount we get. Let's say the supplement is £33 a week, your walk has 600 drops and you get 5 lots of D2D. You'e taking out 3000 leaflets for the same money a pikey takes out 1000 for.

Plenty of profit in it for RM that's for certain.

It's a good point about the vans creedscat.
This is not a proven delivery method, the trials have been patchy to say the least, the park&loop system was designed for two drivers not one and the feedback at least on this forum is far from positive.Just what happens if this whole thing fails? Or will it be allowed to fail after spending so much on vans? I know of at least one planner on this forum so maybe he could tell us how much actual walking is in a 4hr park&loop duty and how much mail you would be expected to carry "on the shoulder".
If this system does not produce savings and no matter what people say it will have to eventually or in an even worse scenario COSTS money. Will RM pull the plug on it.
And if they do will we be left with 4 or 4.5 hr deliveries completely "on the shoulder".
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
