Do not hijack threads for a flame war and do keep to the original topic, having a lot of off topic posts in the threads is no good to any one. POSTMAN or the Moderators will first post warnings in any thread that does go excessively 'Off Topic' and ultimately may lock it.

So do your 45 mins, then go to see your DOM, tell him you've done your 45 mins, and ask what you should do with the rest. If he tells you to keep prepping, tell him that means you won't finish on time, and ask what you are to do with the undelivered mail.

And so on and so forth... going round in circles I think.

Now i thaught , that was it actual prep time was for throwing in letters , flats and packet and d2d. ,BUT oh no apperently it includes all your time in the office prior to delivery , except for ips The tester wrote down the times i spent prepping which was 12 per minute but the dom twisted it, as i said for all the time in the office. The tester did collect all my mail for me and all i did was prep.
So actual throwing in letters was 65 mins,so 65 x 12 = 780 letters, not very many,i know but on that day we had to do extra ips.Now the doms time was as i said all the time i was there including tieing up etc,etc ,etc except for ips which equals 90 minutes, so 780 letters prepped in 90 mins = a prep rate of just over 8. So what is the correct test. There are other walks in the office that have problems but the do a lot less ips and get to throw there walks out. Their are a lot of walks that go over time , but they book ot, i dont want to , so they have problems about having longer walks but thats ok ,let them book ot it causes no problems YET. Does that answer your question? i hope so cause it baffles me :left: :left: :left: :left: :left:
correct there is no agreed prep test apart from the 20 minute test royal mail done regarding health n safety and agreed to 12 letters per minute on the RM2000.
you should never cut off prepping your letters to prep D2D's. incorperate it all and when your ready to go out your'll be suprised how much work will be left behind, therefore generating overtime :Very Happy
780 letters for a delivery  isyour DOM hiding the mail :hmmmm
and I understood you :wave

I dont leave mail now , i throw it all in and 20% d2d then ask what they want me to, they have to tell me or at the very least ask my opinion...With that figure of 780 letters, i probably left that much by cutting off to early instead of throwing it all in.Hopefully now , i should be having my walk tested :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana

ashadd wrote:Adding to my first post, start 6.15,wander around the office collect mech, flats etc, that takes a good seven minutes. throw out untill 6.30. 6.30 untill 8.00 ips unless we have loads then it could be upto 8.15-8.30. then wander around the office again collecting mail , one pod at a time ( health and safety) :Very Happy that takes again at least another 7 mins.start throwing walk out untill its all in, including packets. Then prep 20% d2d no more no less. :Very Happy Have at least 3 coffees in between and during my fresh air break go and get some toast. Then tie up ,sort pouches etc etc etc. We have to wait for our missorts to come , they arrive about 9.40 .All the flyers are now chomping at the bit to get them done and fly out the door , thats if they havent already gone..Then i have a 15 minute cycle to my first drop, which should be 10 am. three and a half hours later i put my last letter in 1. 30. 15 mins cycle back 1.45 , 10 mins poch off 1.50. then 40 min meal relief. I know it should be taken in between . Thats how pegasus sees it , but the pegasus used in our office was blinkered..... :whistle
Is that right, only meant to lift "one pod at a time" due to "health and safety" ?

Well you can rush around the office carrying an arm full of mail and take a chance that you dont bump into someone else doing the same or strain yourself carrying two plus pods of mail ( why would you do that anyway ) I am only assuming its a health and safety issue, but no-one has questioned me yet and told me too carry two or more pods. There is also the " common sense "route aswell. :Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy
