The problem is that under phase 3 all officers should be working all paid hours. Now if your DOM is not one who says "Well we see people going home 1 and 2 hours early, so you can lapse " your lucky. As soon as they start this then start at the contracted time.S6 Stroller wrote:At the risk of getting shot down in a hail of abuse, could someone please explain to me why coming in early makes any difference to RM...or anyone else for that matter? I've spent a while trying to figure this out and have yet to reach a rational conclusion.
If I, hypothetically speaking, come in 1 hour early so that I'm done at midday instead of my finish time of 1pm, why does that matter to RM and why is it not counted towards OT if I go beyond midday? I've still worked the same amount of hours. Just because those hours started before my start time doesn't make those hours of any less value. AND customers are getting their mail earlier...not that RM could care less about that obviously.
In the interest of giving the bigger picture, I would happily do the job 'properly' if everyone else did but the chances of that are pretty remote it would seem. On a more general point, why does the CWU not just suggest everyone stops doing OT and working their days off? Nobody would lose any basic pay and our office for one would be on it's arse straight away.
I will be voting 'YES' by the way.
The problem is also made worse if you come in early when lapsing as this hides any problems with overunning deliveries but hey ho ultimately its your own choice but not one I would recommend in the long run.
