The CWU are trying to shine a positive light on their delivery model stating how many hundreds of offices have implemented it and that QoS has improved. But that tells us absolutely nothing about how some staff feel trying to work this model. For some posties very little has changed. Those singletons who are still able to completely clear their own frame everyday or the ones who do 50-50 appear to be working the new model quite well. :thumbup

However, those who are stuck on a paired walk and can't get any mail delivered due to the increasing volumes of parcels and reduced OT this model is the absolute pits. Some of these duties seem to be accumulating days or even weeks worth of mail as they are told by management to continually prioritise the Tracked and 1c, but that doesn't address the underlying workload imbalance. :thumbdown

These issues need to be resolve first before trying to introduce a completely new delivery model. Thats why those pre-deployment checks are safeguards were so important, no? Seems to me that RM are ploughing ahead with the changes regardless of any workload imbalances and this is a massive concern.

On this forum you will always get one or two who will inevitably say....who cares....just work your hours, take your breaks, go home...and I despair. Why? Because while management might accept the situation now, what happens 6 months down the line when there's a different manager or pressure increases on you to clear the backlog. Because it will happen. There will be Qs about performance, conduct, mail integrity or anything that they can hit you with even though the underlying problem was an unachievable duty that management knew about all along and did nothing.

The Union has a responsibility to ensure that the safeguards on their delivery model actually work. And I would much rather see the CWU successfully defending its members than defending a delivery model that imho doesn't seem to be working for everyone.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

No office should be in a position that requires individual members to email Martin or Tony. There is a local, area and divisional rep who should have intervened before it got to this point. The CWU has failed to say no go repeatedly despite knowing full well the criteria is not being adhered to. Those figures don't bode well either.

Once again the full time release mob have taken it upon themselves to decide they know better.
Individual members call out Tony and Martin personally all over social media, criticising and and at times abusing them for not putting out communications.
So that put out communications saying they are willing to listening to everyone's individual concerns and worries and the structure of the union's function gets brought into question by the very same people that have been posting memes about the top officials going missing.
It doesn't matter what they do, some people will always bring a negative stance on whatever approach they make even when being as transparent as they can.
You are correct in the negativity part. However, if they actually made things better for us for once, they'd probably get a bit less hate.
Their intentions are pure, I truly believe that and the area reps that I know personally genuinely care and will keep fighting for our working conditions.
This scale of change has never been seen before and the fact most offices were in a shocking place before deployment coupled with packet levels increasing constantly it is a hard to execute the planning accurately at times.
Especially when planners get involved.
I'm certain they are trying their best and will keep trying to improve our working lives.
It was never going to be plain sailing.
If their intentions are pure why did they let RM roll out DM26 before it was working correctly in most of the pilot offices?

Why are they also now implying it's mainly working correctly when the signs are that the "pods" aren't working virtually anywhere?

In my opinion, if your office is fully staffed and all duties are covered, it will work.

It's a complete imbalance in the pod work compared to the 50/50's in our office, they have basically got longer days do a bit of IPS in the morning then jolly out with a 50/50 single frame while the pods are drowning, it's around 2 hours more work in the pods, it's a complete utter imbalance in workloads, you have half our office who can move slow and leisurely, laughing because they can't believe there luck, they even leave the office before the pods as we have 3 getting 4 rounds ready, so they leave with 50/50 and we in the pods are expected to be clearing this 4th frame, the only people who are sticking up for this crap are the 50/50 jobs get them in a van shared pod job and there opinions will change very quick! In the van shared pod as a driver I am taking up to 3 frames of oversized parcels, the only thing keeping my sanity is working to time and waiting for this repick, as it's the most stupid system I have ever witnessed in my entire life!

People in our office working the pods are now starting to slow down and actually become LESS productive once they realise they've been stitched up compared with others on the 50/50s. Getting back every day to see the 50/50s nice and clear but another 3 trays of mail added on top of your 5 days worth of mail by your bulging frame just makes you not care about anything anymore.

Exactly this.

We’re a small office with two pods. In those pods- 3 people have gone long term sick, two have left and another handed their notice in on Friday…

That’s says it all imo. Pods do not work.

Maybe duties should be on a rotation. Everyone gets a a pod shift, everyone gets to reduce their fatigue on a 50/50…. Obviously it would never happen.

Regarding the above posts,at our place now it's settling in it's getting identified what extra some 50-50s can take, some are getting permanent work from the pods that are struggling, whilst at least one is doable now it's 5050 which is what's supposed to happen so it's down to s**t management in the offices that are experiencing issues.

So they should they have absolutely done over the people in the pods, the 50/50 are going less productive aswell as they realise if they go faster they could have to help the pods, I watch some of the 50/50 prep in my office it's like they are moving underwater just to drag out what little work they have on the long days.

Royal Mail and the CWU need to be brought to task with this abomination as impacted me personally with a hospital appointment.

Not being too graphic but have had the sh***s for six months. GP refers me to the hospital for a colonoscopy. That referral had taken four months to get to the front of the waiting list.

Got the appointment letter yesterday dated six weeks ago and so missed my appointment.

Worried sick have colon cancer and now back of the queue for another appointment

They say they are going to be transparent with the offices that are working and are not working by listing them next week.
If they are being economical with the truth why would list the offices and details those with issues.
I know the area where I used to work the majority of the offices have improved their QOS figures significantly and the model has worked. The checks were done correctly and the data was used responsibly with the correct pressure from reps.
This probably isn't the case everywhere ,granted, but you are more likely to get people where it isn't working post online expressing their concerns so it doesn't give an balanced view on its initial success.
Those offices that are struggling will be looked at again I'm sure but the scale of the change makes it difficult to address it all at once.

I've heard of people talking about dm27. What does this involve?
If your office doesn't go live with DM26 before Monday 12th October, because of 6 weeks Christmas pressure - it can't be brought in until January 2027, so by default the name refers to DM27.
Delivery Model '26 is the name of the methods change. Even if it was rolled out next year it would still be DM26. Although it was a sticking plaster for the ODM proposed way back last Summer (Heavy & Light), so really it should be DM25. DM27, should it come into being, would be the tweak to the fix.

RMG lost 2025/26 to the ODM debacle, they weren't going to let another financial year go by without saving that projected £300M (allegedly more like promised to DK by ST before taking his controling stake). If you haven't noticed, the CWU has very little leverage.
The machine stops.
