Re: Pay rise 1st April
Stamps go up by 6% soon, so we should get at least 3%. Considering everything right now is rising it would be an embarrassment if we recieve 2% but nothing surprises me anymore.

He won't ever become a trillionaire if he's generous. We'll get the minimum agreed and if anything more it'll take months of talks followed by some kind of catch to get anything 'extra'.yellowbelly wrote: ↑Yesterday, 17:38The inflation rate is released tomorrow 25/3, so depending on that figure doesn't there have to be negotiations if it's above a certain rate?
As others have said if that's the case might not get it for a while unless DK's feeling v. generous and gives us the minimum agreed (was it 2%?) and the rest (if higher than 2) negotiated for a later date. Can't see it myself.

3% won't even keep up with the expected inflation rate in the coming months.
Obviously RM will state that their costs have also risen (fuel costs especially) but they must be thinking about staff retention because the current conveyor belt of staff going out the door must be hurting them

I doubt they careless about staff retention given the number they've allowed to leave in the last year or two?A2B wrote: ↑Yesterday, 19:463% won't even keep up with the expected inflation rate in the coming months.

But now the churn of staff is costing them money, they are probably pleased when a 20 year postie leaves but when 3 new starts leave after a month the costs of recruitment mount up.TopperGas wrote: ↑Yesterday, 20:33I doubt they careless about staff retention given the number they've allowed to leave in the last year or two?A2B wrote: ↑Yesterday, 19:463% won't even keep up with the expected inflation rate in the coming months.

RM are getting a reputation in the jobs market and it's not a good one. The people we've had start recently are shockingly bad and I think that's all they can "attract" at this time

The costs for sourcing, training and replacing new staff in ours must be astronomical.

Re: Pay rise 1st April
I'll be honest I made a mistake in leaving my MGV Driver job after only 3 weeks ( just before Xmas ). I never settled in or gave the job a chance. They let me go straight away with no notice to be worked ( to my surprise ) and looking back I wish I had stayed longer. I have tried to come back in, even through the agency but they aren't interested, or answer any emails. I know I made a mistake but I was hoping for another chance, seen as I was good enough to employ the first time round.

Re: Pay rise 1st April
Because of the disruption to oil supplies inflation is about to go through the roof - will likely be above 5% by year end if not 7/8% - first petrol pumps, then food and energy and mortgages too - hope any new pay negotiation will reflect that

Re: Pay rise 1st April
Speaking as someone who did 30 years on delivery before moving to distribution if you didn't like doing mgv jobs at royal mail seriously don't get a job on deliveries! Distribution is so easy compared to deliveries it is unbelievable. Chances are the job you had will have been filled by someone else now, where I work getting onto the mgv side you need to have plenty of seniority to stand a chance. The fact you got a job through an external advert meant you was very lucky in the first placePH75 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 21:34I'll be honest I made a mistake in leaving my MGV Driver job after only 3 weeks ( just before Xmas ). Re: Pay rise 1st April
The latest Inflation Rate (Consumer Prices Index) has just been announced this morning and it has come in at exactly 3%. Does that trigger a renegotiation, being exactly 3%? Is it CPI they use, or the other inflation measure (RPI - Retail Prices Index)?
