Work in an MC then. That's 24/7 recorded surveillance, and no-one moans.

Re: Cameras in vans
Manager told me that the forward facing camera doesn't film inside the cab, it points outwards through the windscreen. But he said it does record audio continuously but that it would only be uploaded in the event of an accident. Presumably to discover if the driver was on their phone. Maybe also to detect road rage type shouting or aggressive comments just prior to a collision.
I can imagine it being used to snoop. I've developed work induced tourrettes syndrome over the last 12 months. They really don't want to hear the stuff I say when I'm driving alone. It shocks me even.

The OP could have saved themselves a lot of time by using Google Lens.ihatedogs wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026, 21:12Nothing to do with RM, but an interesting thread on in cab cameras.

Re: Cameras in vans
It'll be pretty obvious from what is being said/shouted which of the two drivers is talking? Anything shouted in the heat of the moment could well now lead to instant dismissal, which isn't presently the case.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026, 17:27How do they know whos doing the talking then if it doesnt film inwardly?Jonathan Alsatian wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026, 13:11Manager told me that the forward facing camera doesn't film inside the cab, it points outwards through the windscreen. I’m talking about just general snooping not as a result of a complaint from other driver or civilianTopperGas wrote: ↑24 Feb 2026, 19:11It'll be pretty obvious from what is being said/shouted which of the two drivers is talking? I hope they like a bit of Motorhead at full volumemichael147 wrote: ↑23 May 2025, 19:57My lord, it goes from bad to worse.
Talking to myself on my rural will have to stop.
Phone call from the wife during my break will have to go outside.
Also they would have has some very interesting footage of me desperately trying to get
something out of my eye for a full 15 minutes one day last week.
I know a driver years ago who had very bad eczema around his groin area, used to apply cream
sat in the drivers seat if it flared up at work (could hardly do it outside).
Is nothing sacred?

One month trial of dash cams confirmed in work time learning last week. Full installation presuming trial is successful which, of course, it will be.

Re: Cameras in vans
They are being fitted over the next two years. Once they’re in your vans they’re not coming out.

Re: Cameras in vans
They've already been fitted in a number of vans as they are showing 'this van uses CCTV....." stickers, we've been told the company is having issues with the large screens being continually switched on draining the batteries on the electric vans!

Re: Cameras in vans
Will they have to listen to me singing along to the radio?

Re: Cameras in vans
The one we have is broken already. The screen keeps flashing, the frame its on keeps failing and dropping the screen down. Also the way it's positioned is you can only just see the road at the back, I thought it was going to be a proper full display of whatever is behind you.
