Certainly embarrassing, no question about that, but I must confess I am strangely drawn to this well of comedy gold.

It's like something dreamed up by David Brent that represents some happy clappy parallel universe that is totally alien to most of us here.

Yet I take encouragement knowing that, in the event of a zombie apocalypse or end of civilisation scenario, those both nominating and receiving these worthless accolades will be amongst the first to fall.

It will be Darwinism at its most beautiful finest.

Yep one of my favourite sayings as well, "Roll On the Zombie Apocolypse". Always amuses the Grandkids when we're out for a walk and we bump into a bunch of idiots doing something stupid. Looks like Royal Mail are Recruiting them all!

Pride in our work – People Panel gets colleagues talking
Our People Panel is back on the road, with Sheffield last week hosting two events.
In total, there were around 60 operational colleagues who came along to the events. First up on Wednesday at Sheffield Mail Centre, followed by administrative colleagues in Pond Street a day later.
This was an opportunity to provide feedback on various topics as well as joining in open discussions. At the mail centre, the event started on a high with a common theme in feedback celebrating our diverse workforce and taking pride in our work.
Our Employee Experience team began the People Panel sessions with a look at our company culture, followed by a deep dive into how the Big Trust Survey results are utilised. Attendees also gave suggestions on how to increase participation in the next Big Trust Survey, which is due to commence next month – look out for more soon.
’It’s been good to hear from different areas of the business and learn about outcomes from the Big Trust Survey.’ said Robert Garner , OPG, Sheffield Mail Centre.
Iain Everett, our recently appointed head of recruitment joined us for a session on how we can bring our company values to life and improve our processes for new joiners. We heard some beneficial ideas and suggestions on how we can appeal to a new target audience and showcase the career potential at Royal Mail.
The afternoon came to a close with a discovery session all about pensions and how relevant information can be delivered in a way that is clear and easy to understand. Plus, a soundboard of what support would be beneficial; when it comes to financial wellbeing.

But before everyone had a chance to leave… it was time to get their hands dirty. All attendees and hosts came together to create colourful handprint canvas’ to be added to the newly launched diversity, equality and inclusion wall at Sheffield Mail Centre.
Veesh Rathod, human resources business partner let us in on the method behind the madness - “I’ve seen the direct link between high performance and engagement across South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Some of our best capabilities and ideas come about and are radiated whilst we’re having fun. With this in mind, I wanted to activate some more play at work and take it back to school where we got our hands dirty. We’ve had some productive conversations at the People Panel and now can stamp our fingerprints into the future!’

I'd love them to "Deep Dive" into the "Career Potential" of working in my DO. Once you get the job turn up (probably in your own kit because you haven't been issued any uniform) get stuck on the Worst Duty in the office (because everyone else avoids it like Covid) with the minimum of training. If you stick at it ..... 20 years later you're doing the same crap job(but you've probably been issued your uniform by then)!

The Team are just touching base to brainstorm some blue sky thinking, and imagineering bespoke solutions, then running ideas up the flagpole amd seeing who salutes.

Otherwise how would all the mail and parcels get delivered?

Classic RM tactics (other large bureaucratic companies do the same as well)
Organize events like this to patronize the workforce,pretend that they listen and care and are in touch
Create meaningless events and activities (World Class Mail,The Crown Awards etc etc) for PR purposes and industry award recognition
Top level down to middle management can then pat themselves on the back and say what a great job they are doing - rinse and repeat
Standard bullsh*t tactics which do nothing - which is the whole point
