Somehow I think I'll stick with my own bike, I don't think I'll be paying out up to £500 for a leased bike. At that kind of price I'd want to keep it, especially if RM are going to be privatised within the next year, maybe they'll even stop this offer before then? It just seems to me to be a lot of money to pay for the use of a bike for 18 months, if they - RM - refuse to let you keep it for a "small fee" plus the Collection/Disposal fee added on top as well.
Still for those who are interested in it, then they may well be happy with this offer.

What will happen at the end of the hire period?
The bike and safety equipment is provided by Royal Mail Group Limited and there is no automatic entitlement for you to take ownership of this at the end of the hire period. Royal Mail Group will charge you a £35 collection/disposal charge at the end of the period. If Royal Mail Group chooses to give you the option to purchase the equipment at the end of the hire, there may be a tax liability which for a £500 bike will be no more than £9 for a basic rate taxpayer or £18 for a higher rate taxpayer.

Of course you get to keep it.
You get a £500 bike for £450 and with tax advantages.
It's a very good scheme.
Everyone should use it but they should make sure they use some of the money to buy a very good lock.........

Well then, if you can get to keep it then it is a good deal, I only pointed out that it's up to Royal Mail if they decide to do so, not that they'd like to be left with a variety of different types/style of bike.
I may very well go to my local Halfords and take a look at what's on offer there. My mountain bike, in very good nick btw, is over 10yrs old so I may get a new one then.

, I wonder if they'll do a trade in too.

does that mean the c2w is strictly halfrauds only? i ask as colleagues have found local shops willing to take the voucher and had a far better range of bikes to choose from, ie not a halfrauds own brand or boardman, i previously had the boardman sport mtb, but their are far better bikes for the same money at a reputable company.
