completely disagree with many of these posts,fundamentally the issue is whether or not we even have a union in the workplace.
for me it wasn't if we could win the war,but if we could regroup after RM's interpretations locally,there are lessons to be learned from this dispute,and we have to accept that change will happen,but we now have a chance to shape that.
but make no mistake crozier and mandelson have been left with seriously bloody noses!

fair point steven,your actions have been an inspiration to the rest of us,remember RM have suggested modernisation has been held back,by the actions of a few militants.
up here in yorkshire,and in many regions,reps have been isolated into accepting RM's interpretation of the agreement,it's led to resentment and apathy towards the union,and
this division must never be allowed to happen again.
infact managements attacks and treatment of 'it's people' has actually strengthened the unions cause.
many people from the outside will tomorrow be looking at us with envious eyes,because they face similar attacks on public services,and will do well to heed our motto,
strength in unity!

No, no, no. We can shape change? How? Are they retreating on the changes they've imposed already this year, like the 75 (!) duties lost in our delivery office? Are they retreating on the changes they've made to people's lives by forcing them to change shifts? Not a bit of it.

Watch the video of Higgison's speech if you really want to see how management see this (non)deal. There is no agreement to anything except to talk more. That's all right then. We can all go to work today knowing they can clear the backlog, continue with the changes already made, safe in the knowledge that there won't be any official strikes until (at least) the New year. This management hasn't changes its spots. Come the New Year we will find that there is either no agreement or a c**p one. Then we not only have to tackle what Hayes/Ward/the PEC have done, but also re-motivate a membership who have seen themselves sold down the river.

Don't leave the union, but don's spread false optimism either.
