Space Phoenix question for you : The plans for Mail Centres and MPUs are showing for example as available

Some DSA , 2nd class are available after 18:00 but is not sequenced until at least 23:00

70% of Mail is sequenced by 02: 00 but is not suspected to a Delivery Office until 04:30 so if they delayed the sequencing until later what would the effect actually be ? The second wave if Royal Mail get maximisation of the first wave could come in either walk sorted or manual as the numbers on say a 1000 letters would be either 50 or a 100.

Royal Mail are reviewing each Mail Centres shifts based on automation and traffic arrival and for each Mail Centre are highlighting where each traditional shift pattern is efficient or not ! Especially on inward

2C gets sequenced on "Day 2" along with the 1C that's on "Day 1"

Sequencing (in theory) is supposed to take 40mins per batch. Say you have 10 batches per CSS, if you were to start the wave 1 at 22:00 it would take around 7 hours to sequence them all. On a busy day you might have something like 8-12 left over boxes which would get held over for wave 2. If you had 14 batches then that would take around 9 hours to sequence. If RM push night shifts back a couple of hours then you are probably looking at best case wave 1 not going out until at least 6. Wave 1 can't be made any larger, there's not the capacity to do so

With RM using 17 tonner lorries my guess is that RM possibly want to have it so that a given DO in one hit

All shifts are probably understaffed. Shift times can't change if RM want to keep to having 2C dispatched at 10:00

I'm assuming this point has already been made as it's so blindingly obvious... but there are hardly ever 2 days where I do the walk exactly to the frame as I have to ensure all specials are done by 1pm, sometimes I start at the end and do the entire duty back to front, other days I start in the middle etc etc

How are we supposed to do this with no frames and all mail pre-sorted in trays?

The difficulty will be remembering where the 500 odd packets are going to be delivered in order along with all the mail. Do we write them all down or somehow memorise them??

The difficulty will be sorting the mail into sequence when the mech arrives late and often un-sequenced with no frame to put them in. Now just imagine on your revised 'bigger' outdoor span, how will you now sort it all out into some order?? From experience its not something that's going to take 15 minutes

I have yet to receive a tray of sequenced mail that is 100% correctly sequenced. There are random missorts throughout the tray, often for other rounds within the office, and the last dozen or so letters will be all over the place. So I will have to go through the tray in order to find the redirections, then go through the end of the tray to check there as well.

Until the sequenced mail is 100% sequenced the system will never work correctly. Never working correctly seems to be the normal situation for most systems within RM.

The sequencing sort plans are based on the A+ so you need to ensure that your A+ is up to date. Are many of the missorts similar to actual addresses on the walks?

Most of the missorts are random within the frame, correctly addressed but just in the wrong place in the sequence - often for places that have correctly sequenced mail as well. Other posties have suggested the mail hasn't been run through the machine enough times, which is also why things also come in back to front and/or upside down.
