Mediation Update : CWU and Royal Mail have now agreed the external mediator

dingo wrote:Royal Mail’s negotiating team yesterday was led by Moya Greene and Sue Whalley. These two have not been involved in the negotiations previously. From Royal Mail’s point of view they now have the top two senior managers in the business in the talks. Additionally they had Mike Newby , Simon Barker , Anton Harding and Tony Fox within the talks.

The CWU were led by Terry and with the other Elected officers Andy , Davie , Ray and Mark.

Thanks for clarifying dingo. However this gives credence to what the CWU have been indicating in that they felt previously the Royal Mail negotiators were powerless & lacked the ability to make the tough decisions.

When eventually a settlement is reached you have to wonder what was achieved by prolonging talks with the alleged "reserve" team.

well Tony Fox used to be our DOM. he started as a postie, and now he's negotiating for the RM board. he's known this job from the footpostie all the way to the top so I would say he is the most knowledgeable on the innermost workings of the job, therefore is best suited to negotiate with the union. whereas the top two haven't got a bloody clue.. can't speak for the rest.
