And, if the judge feels like it, he'll probably say that you were free to take action on those, and because you didn't, you have implicitly agreed to it.
A lot of this is down to a bloke. And how he moves and assembles his citations.

Wasn't sure where to put this so I'll leave it here.
A letter has appeared in my local paper (letters page) from a senior figure at Royal Mail. It basically states that the strike is about pay and pensions. Telling the public how good we've got it and there's no need to be going out on strike. More propaganda. Trying to turn the public against us this time though. The letter failed to mention staff shortages, later finishes and many other reasons why customers get their mail later or sometimes not at all. My paranoia prevents me from posting what newspaper this appeared in but I'm pretty sure it will have been sent to a number of local or even national newspapers. My paranoia also prevents me from sending in a 'counter letter' outlining our side of the story so I can only sit here and fume at my keyboard

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Mad ain't it. They're big into perception manipulation.
Delaying until Christmas plays right into their hands. The public will think the timing is down to the posties trying to be as awkward as possible. Then the media put their skew on it. Not to mention those that won't want to disappoint "their" customers at that time. Plenty of posties out there that will work over Xmas just to collect tips and keep their peeps sweet. And then the division.

The union should say to RM that if their dirty trick works and we have to wait till mid December, then they should expect an all out strike for the remainder of the December month.

We shouldn't really care if RM try to turn Joe Public against those 'awful, wicked Posties, messing up Christmas for our customers'
Aren't we constantly brainwashed that the "customer" is not the recipient of the mail item / parcel, it's the person or organisation (e.g. Amazon, ASOS, etc) that's paid Royal Mail to deliver that is our "customer" ????
'The union doesn't pay your bills. Royal Mail doesn't pay your bills. The Customer does' was their constant mantra before the ballot closed....

I don't think they're trying to delay until Christmas... they're hoping/planning that any mediation will take until after Christmas, when any strike action will have far less of an impact.

Right. It plays out like this in my mind -
RM must be confident they will get their injunction. There is absolutely no way these people have delayed talking accidentally. They knew that we would be at this point at the cusp of Christmas. Absolutely no way this is a coincidence, not when we are talking 18 months of opportunity to sort it.
Which means they have a legal nugget. They have their nugget and they've been advised with confidence that it'll work.
And that means it goes past Christmas. No way have they taken this risk for it to accidentally land smack bang in Christmas time. They must have something solid.
If however they don't and they lose, they are surely now outside of the plan and going to strike a deal nice and quick.
The only other option I see is this is a test of bottle. If they lose and the strikes are a go, but they stick to their guns, they must be hoping media and public pressure will save the day. But surely they wouldn't take that risk. Seems massively reckless.
My conclusion is I believe this has been a well thought out, covert plan, rather than a series of accidental mistakes. We shall see.

It's all about perception manipulation. Better to make the workers ask for what we want rather than force it on them. They tried to incite empathy at the same time as telling us it's all about money.
So maybe they wanted to do a test, see if the leaflets and videos would work. Certainly can be said objectively that such a technique seems to have failed in this particular instance.

Could you possibly not be paying them too much respect and giving them too much credit by suggesting this is all part of their evil genius tactical master plan?
After all, they've already proven beyond doubt that they are incompetent buffoons and out of their depth when it comes to actually running the company, only capable of asset stripping, slashing costs and reducing quality of service, whist at the same time still wasting money in certain areas of the business... rather than moving the company forward with innovative new products and services to challenge the competition.

Hey mate, I'm all for that theory. But if it's true then what an awful cockup it's been on their part given its this time of year. Letting the chips fall in this way is about the worst thing they could have done if there hasn't been a plan all this time.wacko74 wrote:LaggyBand wrote:Right. It plays out like this in my mind -
