Returning to office to sign out at end of shift

All guys should be brought back to office, although I don't see a problem with two guys arranging a deal, where say the walker will take some of the drivers work, in exchange for finishing on the street/in the house.

Not a problem until an accident happens and you lay hurt and undiscovered with no partner to help. Would your line manager then back you both or try to sack you?

I do, but what I mean is, why is there no hard and fast rule on this? Which is what I was trying to find out.

Well it is specifically mentioned in a national agreement which is still in force, how harder or faster rule do you want on it?

Some of you guys need a reality check, the way forward agreement won't support this, it was written at a time when there wasn't even job and finish, in those days you either did a second delivery or came back to sort. The way forward allowed you to go home 20 mins early.

Does anyone really think the union would officially support a situation where one member can go home early while the other has to go back to the office all for the same pay.

It's accepted...unofficially, enjoy it if it suits all concerned but if it gets withdrawn live with it.

The BT 2010 agreement:

The majority of delivery routes will be designed to start and finish at the workplace; however there will be some duties where it is more beneficial for both parties to agree alternative arrangements. In addition pouching off arrangements will remain where it is practical and efficient to do so.

If they can get more work out of you, that's efficient for them, going home 20 minutes before your partner <meh>

But it does give scope for local agreement, I think. I was wondering what goes on in other offices around the country. It's not as clear cut as it should be.

I used to sign in and out all the time until I noticed the ones who finish at 12.30 every day never do sign in and out so I've stopped bothering.

The full timers in my office who finish early just sign out as their finish time. The managers don't seem to care. In fact, the managers usually aren't even there come 12.30 or 1pm ish...
