cant wait for things to go wrong with these. collections not going through the system. tracks, rcrds and specials not going through. its going to be a messy one i think.

The current ones are very hit and miss as to whether they download

Dont worry they will recover the costs of these pda's many times over by job cuts, lapsing, ect.

To be fair they bought them in bulk so would have got a hefty discount. Maybe 750 a unit? But even so don't lose one!

Note to all you runners and early starters these new PDAs have the capability to track you every step of the way monitor the speed you are walking etc. They will no doubt use this data in deciding whether your walk is to big or small so keep running boys and girls and you may just get what you deserve.

The old PDAs still do the job but they need new batteries every six months or so. Maybe these new PDAs are lighter, more portable and can capture 2D barcodes better but they can (and probably will) be used by work-shy managers to monitor staff. It gives the bosses another excuse to stay in their offices.

Had ours for a week now and they're really rather good, can't believe I just typed that but it's true! A simple tap of the on/off button locks/unlocks the screen, no faffing, it feels miles lighter. Scans extremely quickly,even the 2D barcodes, no more looking like a contortionist trying to get the right distance and angle.Another plus is it doesn't ask you to input your 4 digit passcode every five minutes. The only minor negatives I've found are the stylus sheath is not as good as the old PDA, and customers sometimes lean part of their hand on the screen as they sign which stops the stylus from producing their signature. Overall a massive improvement on the old PDA

So someone 6ft+ who takes longer strides thus walking faster should be given more work than someone who is only 5ft5?

Yes, 8 hours worth of work at their pace, the same as 8 hours worth of work for the person at the slower pace! Unless you think it is fair that the taller/ quicker person is paid a higher hourly rate?

Absolutely not! In order to equalise the delivery/speed/workload the 6'5" bloke should have his legs chopped to make him 5'5"

Anyone know how management can ring an individual via the PDA they are using?

I know they can do it, but how do they know which number to ring out of all the PDA's we have - obviously all have different numbers?
I imagine it's something through Blackbay.

No real reason for knowing, just curious.
