Re: Delivery to Neighbour:We answer most popular questions
Im sure i've mentioned this before
We are pushed to get rid of all our packets by DTN and yet our office has recently spent nearly £1 million on a bigger, more modern callers office??
This will always be me argument when I have brought parcels back to the office because the customer is not in

Re: Delivery to Neighbour:We answer most popular questions
No this will not work as the lazy managers will do the callers and the more you bring back the more work they will have too do! So don't come back to soon or you will end up doing the callers or being sent back out to see if they the customers are at home.postslippete wrote:Im sure i've mentioned this before

Re: Delivery to Neighbour:We answer most popular questions
Just remember that in RM's report on the trials
For the duration of the trial:
(i) There were no reported walk failures as a result of Delivery to Neighbour and as such no
negative impact on Quality of Service.
(ii) There were no reported additional delivery costs associated with the delivery of items to
neighbours.
(iii) Any extra time taken on walks to complete additional attendance calls was absorbed into
existing workloads.
None of our delivery postmen and women reported any additional time being taken on walks in
conducting their delivery tasks, and this is reflected in no additional cost being incurred at the Trial offices.
The absence of any additional cost in the Trial was supported by the discretionary element of the Delivery
to Neighbour Trial process that enabled postmen and women to exercise their judgement about the
appropriateness of delivering items to neighbours.

Oh yes the trials, but even IF it was true that there was no time added (And possibly for some that may of been the case),the goal posts have changed so the trials aren't worth s**t.For the duration of the trial:.......
This really is a farce.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Delivery to Neighbour:We answer most popular questions
I asked the idiots in charge about the inevitability of the packets getting stolen and their reply was "we'll back you up". Goes without saying I don't trust them an inch.k979aaa wrote:Easy head count reduction sackem!Hitcher wrote:Blue bin?mdm wrote:So now it has changed, we are being told to blue bin the tracked.

Just say you will comply when they give you it in writing.mdm wrote:I asked the idiots in charge about the inevitability of the packets getting stolen and their reply was "we'll back you up". Judging by this weeks excess claims, there are not many who are foolish enough to come back to our office before their time!! And as for bringing packets back (whether the customer was not in or simply because we did not have time to knock on their door) - well that will always happen unless they decide to bring in some packet drivers or at the very least some extra staff!! No manager working in a callers office is going to send me back out on delivery with packets to re-deliver until they pay me extra for doing it!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Of course there wasn't any extra time involved it was discretionary ,so no postie bothered and just carded it like normal.

Re: Delivery to Neighbour:We answer most popular questions
I knocked on a neighbours house and was told they were not there personnal postoffice!!
Its not the neighbours responsibility to take in parcels.
I also got a sick neighbour out of bed to take in a parcel, imagine there reaction!!
Saturdays are the worse trying to get some folks out of bed.......do royalmail really want me to get there neighbours out of bed to take in a parcel for the person who parcel it is for cos they wont get out of bed!!!
Delivery to a neighbour is no different to taking in back to the office...........its still hasnt been delivered first time cause the customer wasnt in. Taking there parcel back to the office ensures there parcel is safe. Leaving with neighbour, bin etc isnt safe option. I wouldnt be happy if a parcel got left to one of my neighbours cos there abit odd. Plus a friend of mine had a parcel left with her neighbour......they opened it to see what it was (dinner set) if it had been something of interest to the neighbour I bet they would of kept it. Its royalmails job to keep custmers parcel safe.

You get people out of bed? Normally they are on the verge of going back to bed when we get there.
