If people lose their jobs it is simply because there is insufficient work.
So by what we are reading this is starting in south Yorkshire,TNT are not in south Yorkshire yet this is nothing to do with mail volumes
To be fair we don't know what is going on.
The newspaper piece is small and devoid of any detail and the email from the Hull region talks about reverting to contracted hours and doesn't mention redundancies.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It could be that Sheffield which has a lot of HQ functions, HR - Pay etc, is the main target. Wonder if outsourcing of HR functions is going to be announced at the AGM this week.

Bloody right too,i always ask them if they want me to take it for a drive or leave it behind as i dont have a crystal ball to say i will finish on time.So i tell them that their may or is a possibility that i will be bringing it back on a daily basis no matter what so as they cant accuse you of willful delay.
I have to say the job has improved no end as i now relax and enjoy a much more normal pace with start and finish times adhered to,if i have time to lapse i will else it is a slow drive back to the office so we can leave on time.
I will be buggered if i will be harassed by these little hitlers. If they dont like it then its just tough.

Another thing to remember is that the business has this albatross of a dividend payment coming up at the end of the month. It's what... half our profits from last year?... gone in an instant. Coughing up something like that is sure to put a crimp in anyone's cash flow.

Ok lets slow down here.

If you sack all the partime contracts WHO is going to cover the duties. You cant lapse them all :hmmmm

Makes no sense.

Conspiracy theory: This is really related to potential bombshell of the EU holiday pay ruling as per http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =1&t=64158" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If this ruling is extended to overtime pay, RM will be in **** Creek with the backpayments to the PTers!

I heard of the job cuts and that our DO needs to lose about 150 hours in cuts taking place and all FTC's going
When asked DOM he said that some FTC's being moved onto permanent contracts and not all going.
Its hard to believe what will happen because of the different rumours going around

We are in South Yorkshire. The day before all our staff on temporary contacts were given 2 weeks notice, every manager in the office was out delivering until 3pm+ because we were so short staffed.

It just doesn't make any sense. Get rid of those staff and we won't have enough. That's unless RM is simply planning to keep hiring and rehiring temp staff so they never have to give out permanent contracts.

Mind you, it's ok because the two WCM people have been in the office for months, collecting their 2 grand a month each for putting up hand drawn pictures showing you how to walk. I can't even begin to tell you how angry it makes me that RM is binning good frontline staff when they're spending millions on this.

Two weeks notice in our office, the manager that came in said the figure in our region was 800 job losses within the next few weeks.

I don't know where the loss of revenue is coming from, it's no lighter than last year and there certainly isn't the summer drop off there used to be.
