What is a Darren Anderton?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Wrong, the best way to lose weight is to be careful about what you eat,eat simple unprocessed foods, cut sugar out completely, avoid anything that says low fat on it and drink lots of water, and ditch fruit juice and any tinned fruit you can get more vitamins from broccoli than you can fruit.DGP1 wrote:It's not really exercise, you need to do some proper exercise to lose the weight.Brain Fury wrote:Why would you need to go to a gym to lose weight if you're spending 4 hours a day walking the streets? That's a lot more exercise than most people get. Perhaps you're eating the wrong things?

A great winger for Spurs and 30 England caps to his name. But poor old Darren Anderton seemed to be on the treatment table more often than on the pitch. Thanks to Andy Gosney, Anderton’s former colleague at Portsmouth, he will forever be remembered as “Sicknote”. Sadly, it was a very fitting moniker.

I think age also plays a big part in this.DB1100 wrote:Wrong, the best way to lose weight is to be careful about what you eat,eat simple unprocessed foods, cut sugar out completely, avoid anything that says low fat on it and drink lots of water, and ditch fruit juice and any tinned fruit you can get more vitamins from broccoli than you can fruit.DGP1 wrote:It's not really exercise, you need to do some proper exercise to lose the weight.Brain Fury wrote:Why would you need to go to a gym to lose weight if you're spending 4 hours a day walking the streets? As you reach middle age your metabolism changes and as testosterone levels drop fat replaces muscle.
My diet is, and always has been very good and I drink very little alcohol.
If I want to lose weight I have to do serious amounts of physical activity and being out on delivery doesn't make any difference.
Of the 4 hours on delivery I probably stand still for half of it and the other 2 hours I walk at about 2mph.
Calories burnt off - negligible.

Re: This job ruined my life
There's a difference between thinking the job's w**k (and using hyperbole to illustrate that point), compared to coming out of work every day and spending the rest of one's day a) suffering physically, b) suffering mentally, and c) needing to list everything that's wrong in their life and how work is responsible for each of those things! I go to work and I'm very laid-back about it, do the job, then I go home and forget about it. If it gets to the point where it consumes me like it's consuming some people on here in terms of their mindset, their body, whatever, then it's gone. Life, and being able to live your life, has to come before money. Being a cripple when you're 50 isn't worth being employed when you're 35. Having a nervous breakdown in a year isn't worth your £300 per week this week. If people cannot learn to prioritise themselves, they're always going to have this problem whereby work is their nemesis, work is their crisis, yet work, perversely, is also their medicine. If you cannot extricate yourself from this cycle, or you have no will to, then of course I'm going to give you short shrift as far as sympathy is concerned.fishtank wrote:taurus88 wrote:I swear some people on here are the victims of their own negativity..Lol..taurus88 wrote:I sometimes wonder how the twenty-year men got through twenty years without slitting their wrists.

Re: This job ruined my life
hahaha thats the best post ive read in a long time.
The weight thing is something I don't get... Before I started this job I was 12 stone. Now 2 years later i'm 15 stone and its still rising. I guess its because after the 4 hours of powerwalking I sit on my arse for 10 hours because im so knackered!

Re: This job ruined my life
Yes thats probably it! I find if i sit down after work i usually stay down for a long time,so i put it off and keep myself busy,if i can last until early evening i feel much better.Pulled a muscle in my lower back so sitting for long periods makes it tight as a nuns poonani so i try not to sit longer than an hour without getting up anyway.jw1234 wrote:hahaha thats the best post ive read in a long time.

Re: This job ruined my life
Reasons i love it, met 2 love of my lives, its kept me fit, i can listen to farming today every morning, no commuting, no clock watching after half 9, I keep getting asked where i get my tan. Going the pub when i finish and seeing people rush back to work. Yes the jobs changed in some ways but im earning more i get more days off and get an extra hour in bed. Look around and see the plight of some people in other jobs,
