You have expressed your opinion and I respect your apathy in our leaderships ability, that they have failed the membership in many past agreements. I for example, detest the practice currently adopted in relation to the issue of "joint statements" that nearly always appears to embellish/promote RM's stance and chastise our members.
On this present situation though, in fighting to retain our current terms and conditions, our union MUST have the total backing of all it's members !! the alternative of any lack lustre response from members will without any question of doubt sound the death knell of our union and the T&C's that have been won in the past. We would then have ample opportunity to moan about the old agreements, and rejoice in what our new private owners offer in the future. eg zero hour contracts, no sick pay, slashed holiday and pension entitlement etc, etc, etc .........!!

Turkeys voting for Christmasblobbyh wrote:I'm a part-timer with 9 months service and union member straight away. However I never received a ballot paper and so couldn't vote in the earlier consultative ballot! I don't agree with the strike. Turkeys voting for christmas springs to mind as the only ones that I see will benefit are our competitors. I was half expecting not to get a ballot paper this time and so would not have striked. However I did and voted no - but I will obviously go with the majority. Surely that is what a vote/poll is all about.
