Mr Whizz wrote:Good posts, chrisj....my contract hours are from 9 -2 but my manager said it's best to come in at 8:30 every morning (so that I don't hold the driver up who takes me to my starting point)

My point is that CWU must know that this is happening in every DO but they're not doing anything about it.
NEVER MIND THE UNION........YOU KNOW IT'S HAPPENING, BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT ???? HOW ABOUT SAYING " MY START TIME IS 9 ".
I'M PART TIME TEMP AND HAVE HAD MY CONTRACT RENEWED 3 TIMES EVEN THO I STAND UP FOR MYSELF AND I DONT EMPOWER THE BULLIES TO BULLY ME.

GROW A PAIR AND STOP LOOKING TO OTHERS TO BE YOUR BACKBONE :speak to the hand . excuse the capitals but i'm shouting :cuppa

You are indeed shouting. every situation and every office is different - so it is not a case of growing a pair and then it is all sorted.

Whilst you might have fought your corner successfully, others might not be so lucky either through not wanting the fight, too scare to lose the job and perhaps being at loggerheads with managers and some full-timers.

Its not only managers that bully or can have influence in a depot. If a relatively new temp contract staff cross some established staff, they may find themselves bullied out of the job or even bad-mouthed about their performance.

We are not all the same! That is why we have rules and regulations and Unions as back-up or for protection.

Some managers are very difficult and vindictive - being on a temp contract just makes one a little more vulnerable... And we all make mistakes, regardless. One simple error, and you might be out
