Are RM confusing a set of standards with the vague application of 100 0/0 effort which is something totally different. I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!

RM know what 100BSi is and the effort required to maintain that workrate. They are also aware of Relaxation Allowances which need to be assessed and applied on an elemental basis to all PVs (an element is a distinct part of a task that is measurable e.g. Sort Letter to 64BF).

All PVs should have been measured to an accuracy of +/- 5% with 95% confidence and sufficient study time should have been made by Industrial Engineers (who have passed a rating clinic within the past 6months - to ensure they are proficient).

In outside industry and in the past in mail centres, when values have been questioned by CWU or even management. An extended production study or rated activity sampling exercise has been agreed and undertaken to validate PVs and revisions. RM are unlikely to accept this type of validation for individual units as they no longer have the trained resource and if they did it would cost money they are unwilling to spend plus THEY MAY NOT LIKE THE ANSWERS !

We have been told that IWT has shown that we have too many indoor hours in the office and need to lose 180 indoor hours.
We have been given two options.
Move six full time to other units within a nine mile radius and replace them with six part time staff.
or
Permanently lapse six walks per day which would work out as a full row on the fitting extra for each walk left.
We have been told to make decision on which we are going to accept by end of week.
We had no area rep present.
We have not yet had the delivery methods revision which is due later this year.
The office has been split and this is why we desperately need some guidelines.
I emailed my branch secretary yesterday but as yet have not had a reply.

Mondeoman first and foremost I would advise you to registar a disagreement. I assume your task on the IWT is 100BSI and I also assume that Royal Mail are attempting to move you more than 5 points and certainly more than what is agreeable by the office.

There is a risk that they will continue to laspe walks to make the savings but I would recommend you stand your ground and use the IR framework. You should hold a meeting of the members and get them to support your stand.

I will put this to our rep tomorrow but he is very new to the job and very young and seems to err on the side of management.
I understand the 100BSI but not the 5 points.

Dingo - pls tell me those that have been forced to agree to unrealistic bsi by planners and backed up by other reps as that was what everyone was saying ie 100bsi - have some sort of recourse if it agreed otherwise. Hope that makes sense!

And whatever happened to the "we want a definitive answer by the 16th of January or else" - well it is now the 25th January and else what? Well it would seem that there is llittle for RM to fear from seemingly empty threats - because what really happens is RM make placatory statements and lo and behold the rabbits in the headlights again. I've heard the statement "grow a pair" time and time again and I really think it is time that those at the table did.

When dingo relates a long winded reply on past glories don't you just know that bad news is around the corner - the threat to pull D2D payment, etc etc has the union ever called their bluff and said do it, not on your life - they're like a six week old puppy rolling over to have its belly tickled.

Dvbuk sometimes you are so hurtful its like being hit by a wet sponge. I think personally you and a few others on here would not be happy if the union delivered you a pot of gold with some diamonds with it.

Oh I don't know dingo, try me, I may complain if it ain't 18 carat and the diamonds would have to be perfect but.................

But and it is a big but , the CWU have come out and told all units not to agree 100BSI and that when you do negotations that there is no requirement to go from say 70BSI to 100 or even to 90. Its a negotation. Of course management want you to give up as many hours as possible it is our role to give as little as we can whilst getting an acceptable overall agreement.

It was explained at the time , it was reconfirmed and reconfirmed and has kept on being reconfirmed.

There comes a time when some do not listen to what the CWU say about BSI cause they either have not got the support to oppose it or unfornately the members in the union dont want to oppose it and just want the money.

Of course no doubt i will get blamed for blaming the members but that is not what I am saying at all.

There are two issues with BSI,the number itself and how that number was obtained.
The whole system is flawed from beginning to end,from measurement to application.
We shouldn't have touched it with a barge pole...just like WCM,IWT,The flying horse and Indoor Flow.
They are management-friendly weapons of job destruction.
By endorsing them the union has forever tied itself to cuts and more cuts.
It's a journey ffs.

Probably making a date for the next round of meetings and the next deadline or two or three...............probably just keep stalling until privatisation comes along and then it will all be gravy all the way.

It's in the hands of the members, every day I'm getting requests for rule 13 ballots and told to stuff the money.

The CWU locally has 'played the game' and 'kept the Peace' despite no real CWU involvement in a non existent 6 step process. No release for reps apart from 1 hour off IPS/Prep. Organised chaos after revisions go in on unagreed Georoute duties and a manipulated IWT. Shedloads of overtime pumped in. Bullying to take workload. Performance levels continually monitored and openly criticised. Sick levels rocketing. And few benefits to staff. 7am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and no one in four Saturdays
unless at the expense of less than full time staff looking for full time hours.

Half hour Weekly Resource Meeting where Rep told what's being laspsed.
MGV/Drivers doing former D2D denied delivery supplement.

Increased bullying and harrassment by Managerial grades but only ever OPG grades conducted.
We have had enough - Time to ballot I say.

Read this Dingo this is the only true reflection of life in an Office I have seen,not interested in lists of nonsense ,let Billy and Dave talk to the people that pay their dues,and stop jaw jawing with a bunch of duplicitous snakes we are the ones who matter here!The business is already on the road to destruction/sell off,we have long ago lost any respect for working for a once proud organization.get off your Knees Ward and do somthing for us!!!!!!!Top report Tamsky

Obviously the previous observations don't fall into the cosy scenario seen by others who profess to see "THE BIG PICTURE". Well a big picture is made up of little pictures and I think it's time the union started looking at the little pictures first.
