Theghost wrote:Today was pathetically easy,We got out at 9.15 and both said lets whizz it off asap for an early dart,Rare since the changes.

We bombed the rounds,Knowing we could make good time due to the lack of mail.

We got back to the office at 12.30pm Finish time was 2.30pm knock off meal break turns it to 1.50pm so made 1 hour 20 mins.

We were 1st back,The boss said we were too early and had to go out and do some parcels as he couldn't be seen to let us go home so early? What the hell?

Penalised for being efficient,So now when we get a stupidly busy day and may go over 10-15 mins the mail will be brought back,No danger.

We said what are we supposed to do,Drag our feet? He replies "Yes" You cant get back too early,It really is unreal.

Looks like next tuesday we are off to a Cafe for an hour or so.
If you go to a restaurant with your missus, or a shop or the DIY store, how would you feel if a staff member walked away from their till early, telling their manager "See you later boss, I've served 150 customers today, that's my quota done, so I'm off home....oh by the way, there's a big f**k off sized queue of impatient punters at my till, so you'd best sort it out."

Would you expect the manager to give them a bollocking & tell them to get back to the till untill either their break time or finish time, or would you join in saying they should be allowed to go home, especially as they've been extra efficient with serving 150 people so quickly? I doubt it somehow, and if all the above is too much for the hard of thinking to understand, then try this....

You are paid for 8hrs a day ( I presume ), not for sorting and delivering mail for 300, 400, 500 or more delivery points....so if your manager gives you 8 hours of work, you should do 8 hours of work, and what others do or don't do is not your problem, if you think it is, raise the matter with your rep and I'm sure he will say the only one with a problem is you for tear arsing around, then whinging when things don't go your way

To be frank theghost, you need to cop on and realise RM are determined to act the hard case - and if that means they shoot themselves in the foot, then you need to pull the trigger.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Mail delivery; those that can, do, those that can't, MANAGE!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
