For their benefit or ours?
What do you think? How many times in the past have they coerced the union into accepting change and paying for it with the money that's already due to us. There are very few offices that have received the payments due and should there be a delay in the revision it never will be paid and that money will be salted away again. Remember the year of the great loss when 800 Million was laid aside for EVR, never paid out and wheeled out at a later date as a profit triumph - and these are the people we are asked to trust!!!!

The road show is due back next month for local reps, I would like this to happen every year. The DGS(p) and his team appraising local reps of the state of play from a national perspective and taking questions from the floor.

Feck me I didn't think the s**t was that deep so soon........and a national perspective no less.....sounds like a rallying cry...........perhaps they'll say........."just how important is money" :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle not that important when you're getting a 100k a year.

Second thoughts maybe they are coming round to advocate the changes to the Union structure as per the letter about transforming the union which made its way to my former branch last week.

It's somewhat ironic that we were given about 100 reasons why this deal was so good, and would be comprehensively checked at every stage, yet we are now asked one simple question,"why has it gone wrong? is it not working"
the most simplistic answer Dingo is down to 'local agreement' it's been completely exploited by regional management, however i feel the members must shoulder some of the blame, too many missed opportunities from previous agreements have divided the 'union' amongst staff, and now it's purely a case of whats in it for me!
just one other small issue, the gradual but ever increasing part-time workforce has certainly not helped,i have tremendous sympathy for my AG colleagues who have an impression that they don't receive the same treatment from the CWU that the full-timers do.

dingo wrote:Both walk sequencing revisons and in particular delivery method revisons have not worked in the vast majority of cases. I think this is recognised by very senior Royal Mail managers and by CWU HQs.

The strange thing is the majority of those revisons which have collasped have been introduced with the agreement of both the members and local CWU. Yet they still dont work and that most have had to have mini revisons to put things right. Royal Mail have admitted that the savings are not being realised either as fast as they wanted or have produced the level of savings they thought they would. In fact they believe that their plan which they thought would take 3 years will now take 5 years to introduce.

So what are the reasons for the revisons failing. My thoughts are listed below but would like to understand yours.

1. Model traffic week set to low
2 Cannot do 100 BSI outdoor or indoor
3. Park and loop to big a change and not planned right
4. Walk sequencing not achieving the right percentage of work to the delivery office
5. Mail centres are not clearing to workplan and providing the work quickly enough to the MPU
6. Not all Mail Centres doing one inward pass so the work arrives later to the MPU.
7. Too Many packets and increases in tracked items .
8. Geo route set at 100 BSI outdoors is unachievable
9 Managers , reps do not have enough of an understanding of the tools which revisons are based on .
10. Too many revisons have been planned based on someone currently sorting at say 70 EP and then expecting them to sort at 100 EP on the Monday.
nope all wrong its cause im a lazy barsteward

There was always a plan b, didn't you know?, oh of course you didn't..................let me see what was it thingy said, oh yeah they didn't want to tell you at the time............in fact they didn't say what it was after the fact..............who knows maybe it was better than plan a.........could be we'll find out....then there will have to be a plan c :chuckle :chuckle

It would be totally refreshing if the CWU said "look we DID get it wrong, we took our eye off the main issues and got sidetracked BUT we are going to put things right and put the members first".........not that it is going to happen of course

Dingo,
the fecking distances we are being asked to walk are a feckin' joke, a sick feckin' joke.
The ever increasing workload is a killer.

Part of the problem is we have management in from outside industries who haven't got a clue about the actual nuts and bolts of the job.
