So if you only have one bundle you would still get the trolley out of the van and tow it empty around your loop
Of course not, that would be silly.
But what you are saying is...
We only use the trolleys on heavy days ( 16 loops for the 2 duties ) . On medium to light days we move from street to street parking in the middle and splitting that streets mail into 2 so creating up to 30 mini loops . So off we go usually with one bundle in your arm , at the most 1.5 bundles . No bag and no trolley , brilliant . The first one back to the van deals with the larger packets for that street , then off we go to the next .
It's down to you though, good luck.

Oh also,Canada mounties anyone "at the most 1.5 bundles" :left:

By Himmogens analysis, those who use bikes, should never get off the bike and walk around say a cul-de-sac to deliver. Absolute tosh, you work to the most sensible way for yourself, as long as you are delivering the mail correctly, you personally find the most acceptable and efficient way to deliver it.

And what if you think the most efficient way is to carry 16kg on your back?....or use your own car?
And what if your park&loop partner has a different idea of acceptable, sensible or efficient?
Isn't it better to use Royal Mail's rules to our benefit...if it is inefficient it will by definition....take longer therefore leading to....more jobs.
They want us to use the trolleys....the Union want us to use the trolleys....but we don't....because they are inefficient....that takes some swallowing i'm afraid.

I don't think the Single Daily Delivery is efficient.
I don't think lapsing is efficient.
I don't think last letter 3pm is efficient.
Can I exempt myself?

This is another advantage of p&l you can only go as fast as the slowest person . If someone wants to carry 16kg bags just leave them to it , they will just have to wait back at the van until the one with a the brains comes back . They might even be that dumb and impatient that they might tackle a bit of their partners loop . :nana

Anyone tries to make me carry a 16kg bag will be waisting their time . They have 2 options split the loops into mini loops or trolleys , no more carrying weight for this boy .Lets hope they iron out the work load problem and then the job will be spot on , and posties might see we have got a good result :nana , putting the loss of d2d payment aside :evil/mad .

Fish, having used a light weight trolley for the whole month of December, and knowing the problems that have arisen as a result to my kneck, shoulders and arms, I firmly believe that one system does not suit all, and it is obvious this method has not been risk assessed for damage to the body as we have two other posties in our office suffering with the same problems, and the chiropractor I am attending to sort this out has said that he has had other posties in with the same problems. To take your view point and continue punishing the body with a system that does not suit you, and where there are other methods that do not involve hanging 16kg bags around your kneck, and where others are showing intelligence by making the job easier for themselves without having to use their own vehicles etc should be applauded and perhaps taken up by the union, rather than being ridiculed for not towing the company line.

Let's not applaud too much Lincox...they haven't came up with any ground breaking new strategy for park&loop...they are just using bags.
Now of course we have their word that there is only a "couple" of bundles in those bags and maybe these guys are 100% genuine. :angel
...but if you were to implement this across the country there will be carnage...4 and a half hours with a bag...a chiropractors dream come true.....

skull, you still don't see what you are actually doing.

Your employer has taken an existing system and changed it order to create a 'modern' one, the problem is that posties haven't been working to the existing system and as a result there now appears to be a marked difference in what can be achieved. Pre-revision walks with a history of being completed early are now having to cut off and your employer as a result believes that you are not performing to standard.

What has actually happened is that posties have been responsible for their own current problems by working to their own system, which they felt was better. For instance hedge-hopping, unofficial pouch drops, break neck delivery speeds, doorstepping, handing items of mail to neighbours, self-signing, using their own vehicles, overloading bags and bikes and missing their meal reliefs.

What you need to do now is to stop the rot and do the job exactly to spec, not go down the same road of deciding your own system in order to make the best out of a bad situation. All you are doing is compounding the problem for future changes in our working practices.

Well from what I am witnessing, the Light Weight Trolley is also going to be a chiropractors dream come true.

Your still under the impression that creating mini loops is cutting corners and making the job quicker . Maybe the time we gain from not using the trolleys is lost by moving the van more often and splitting our bundles at the rear of the van so we can do it in mini loops .
You will never convince me to pull a trolley when you can just carry a bundle and a half . Please take note we do use the trolleys on heavy days . Our duties are virtually all semi detached properties with medium to long drives , so we don't get as much mail as some but we do cover a greater distance . I hope this paints a clearer picture of our 2 duties .
