Do your's have the 2nd class printed individually?, did they already come sorted/sequenced? regardless of what the Area Rep stated, the DOM said that because this sorting was performed elsewhere then we were not entitled to payment, which I why the Area Rep was contacted.
Do I need to take this higher, I will not accept being stolen from, we are not slaves and don't work for free, If we've performed a task for which a payment is agreed then I expect that agreement to be upheld.
Someones received payment I just want it dispersed to the proper recipients.

I would be contacting your branch, you still have to prep them. Delivery only part timers are getting paid for delivery so I can not see why you are not getting anything. If you are still getting no where, it shows local negiotation does not work and this proves all agreements, particulary pertaining to payments, should be done nationally including the rate we get paid and what we ALLget paid :no no :no no

Okay thanks, TBT, for the confirmations, I have emailed the Outdoor Department in the first instance and will telephone them in a couple of days if no response has arrived before then.

In my area in London we used to get 6p for the Poll cards but for the last 3 elections the council have delivered them, i spoke to one of the council workers delivering the Poll cards on saturday, i asked her what the payment rate per poll card was "25p per Poll Card"!
Royal Mail lost that contract here, makes you wonder what they were charging the coucil and what profit they were making!

We have now been told that 3.5p per item is what we are going to get. Not happy ... :no no

We will be meeting Dom on Monday seeking increase above 5p which will bring our DO in line with surrounding DOs so I am told.

Fight the good fight!
I'm afraid we haven't lost our paperwork, we're only getting 3.5p per item for election material and poll cards.

As far as i know Royal Mail has a a clause in our contract of employment that states if we find any material we are delivering offensive then we have the right to refuse to deliver. I for one will not deliver B.N.P. items. Mind you the way browns going i may refuse to deliver that parties stuff to. I remember Billy Hayes saying something similar some months back.

No. 257/’09
Ref: LR/DGN
Date: 19th March 2009

To: All Branches

Dear Colleague

Conscience Clause

The Race Advisory Committee has recently been discussing the issue of the BNP and their likely efforts to increase their votes before the European elections. As a consequence of these discussions the issue of the ‘conscience clause’ was raised and the need to make all postal workers, particularly those who work on delivery, aware of the ‘conscience clause’ which allows a delivery person the right to refuse to deliver election material, if the material they are delivering, is considered to be offensive due to personal circumstances or beliefs or where an individual believes that delivery of a particular item may incur personal risk. However the CWU fully recognises the legal obligation placed upon the business to deliver all mail, including election material and that we will do all we can to ensure that the legal obligations are met whilst at the same time enabling those individuals who have a genuine problem to retain their dignity and for the issue to be dealt with in a fair and sensible manner.

The European elections are due to take place in early June so we can expect campaign material to begin circulating well in advance of this period.

The CWU are very keen to ensure that our members know their rights in this respect and any queries in relation to this matter should be raised with Bob Gibson’s department. We would refer you to LTB 172/05, which was sent out previously on this issue and this covers in details the agreements struck with the business in this regard. As a reminder to our members, it should be noted that the objective of the agreement is to avoid flashpoints and to ensure that there is a continuity of all services.

Yours sincerely
