Fair comment Postman,so to answer your question, I have worked my way up through the ranks, worked with frontline staff so I know the scorePOSTMAN wrote:Num 6 to be fair mate,if you have not worked on the front line then tbh some of your views are worthless.
That's not being rude as i'm not a rude person.
While everyone on here of course has the right to anonymity,we're not interested in who you are but just where you work.

I think our posts may have crossed i am number six
and I hear the fact you have worked your way through the ranks - good for you I applaud anyone wishing to do this
but can I ask how long has it been since you were in deliveries?
as it has changed drastically in the last few years
not flaming just trying to understand where you are coming from

Re: The Outcome of the Ballot
no.6 brings up a good point about the outcome of the ballot. Voters will be scared into voting yes because they believe that they might lose their jobs if the proposed changes are not implemented.
Nobody can tell the future. We are told this proposal is about bringing in a 3-5 year plan that was drawn up by a Chief Executive who will not be here to oversee its implementation. Our new Chief Executive would have to take on a job that involves implementing their predecessor's plan. Unless there's no plan and the proposal is simply about making RM attractive to a private sector buyer.
Can anyone tell us, in detail, what the dire consequences of a no vote would be?
By the way, I think no.6 is an area rep.

I agree and to be totally honest management style has got to change and has a lot to answer forTrueBlueTerrier wrote:On that I agree - however the change has to be for the right reasons, it has to bring the workforce with it, not just the CWU as an organisation. And to be frank the management style of Royal Mail has to change and though the agreement seeks to do just that, the selfish part of me thinks that its the workers that are sacrificing the most and the business reaping the benefits. I am willing to give RM a chance but after 2007 P&M perhaps you can see why people are wary of an agreement that is full of aims and commitments but short on promises and details.I am number six wrote:Change is vital for the survival of the business and a secure future, and the security of the workforce, Fact not opinion
This is going to take time, through past experiences people don't forget quickly, and that I can understand
Having said that it's somewhat difficult to bring the workforce along when some people dig their heels in
There has been a complete change in the business re the new regional structures and I know that from DOMS upwards have had to bare the brunt of change some liked some disliked so I think it's fair to say there have been winners and looser there too.
And perhaps more to come according to UNITE, and no doubt it will

Teebs, the changes in this agreement are neccessary for one overwhelmingly important reason: to protect jobs. Letters face the same future that vinyl records faced once the cd had been invented - they are being used / sent by fewer and fewer people. If the decline in traditional mail volumes is not offset by growing other products such as D2D, then more and more job losses become a reality, surely ?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:On that I agree - however the change has to be for the right reasons, it has to bring the workforce with it, not just the CWU as an organisation. The blame for us having to vote on an agreement that is 'full of aims and commitments but short on promises and details', however, lies squarely with the CWU's negotiators and with the Postal Executive, in my opinion. What the hell are they thinking of, approving a draft agreement that, after 4 months of talks, still contains more loose ends than the Tottenham team who famously had suspected food poisoning the night before a vital match ?

DOMS upwards have had to bare the brunt of change.......Sorry thats just not true!I am number six wrote:I agree and to be totally honest management style has got to change and has a lot to answer forTrueBlueTerrier wrote:On that I agree - however the change has to be for the right reasons, it has to bring the workforce with it, not just the CWU as an organisation. This is not about people likeing or dislikeing change per say.
It's about staff being given more physically demanding jobs, with older retierment ages, with unrealistic performance standards and bullying if you cant meet them!

Re: The Outcome of the Ballot
There is a problem with that statement reasonable as it may appear, well there are actually 24,000 problems with that statement ,and it comes 50,000 jobs to lateTeebs, the changes in this agreement are neccessary for one overwhelmingly important reason: to protect jobs.
Teebs, the changes in this agreement are necessary for one overwhelmingly greed driven reason : to boost profits.
Fits better I think ,cos the jobs are going but the profits growing

TBH we all are under the same cosh, if your delivery is up to the hilt you need to work with you rep/dom to agree what is achieveable, we are all working till were 65, I certanly do not agree with bulling...if your manager is bulling then it needs to be reported

Thats my point, the whole of RM works on pressure being passed down the line, it's not bullying per say it's harassment Hours have been cut from everywhere duties made bigger than the nationally agreed limit without agreement. But RM need to complete the USO, it can only be achieved by pressurising everyone and making staff work in excess of their contract and forced overtime if neccassery.
It's not my office it's almost all of RM, look around the site we're not all lieing, harassment is common place it should be in Royal Mails mission statment!
And what we have been harassed to do is work longer and longer out in the street delivering. well now even if the harassment stops it's only because RM have got everything they want!

Slight correction because of my age and the change in when I can draw my state pension I shall be working till I am 66 if I can.
Another subject but again Labour got it wrong they raised the age when you can get the state pension, but did not change the law that allows business to enforce retirement before then. I hope they do that soon.

I am number six. If you have been working with regional management you should be well aware of the bullying that has gone on and the countless grievance procedures that have been placed and not followed up in accordance with RM procedures, so I find it very condescending for you to suggest that we should put in a complaint against managers, when over the past 3 years this has been done, and Royal Mail have completely turned a blind eye, due I have no doubt because their Senior Managers have instigated the assaults on their own work force.

not to mention managers found guilty of B/H have been either promoted or moved to another office,as is the case with at least two of our inspectors in my office............Lincox wrote:I am number six. Re: The Outcome of the Ballot
Not only that but they positively deny it and close ranks as do their DOM and DSM!. We all know the edicts come from above save the BS and if you do hold a lofty position your bonus must be more than my annual income yet the service gets worse and still the bullying gets worse!. Yet nothing is done about it apart from watching crappy DVDs about how posties bully each other for it is never the managers is it!.Lincox wrote:I am number six.
