Well did we strike for possibilities. There seems to be a plethora of ambiguities whenever we have an agreement.clashcityrocker wrote:

2.Possibly. It is a pretty ambiguous statement. Take it any way you please.(Weight off the shoulder)
3. Possibly if the spirit of the agreement is adhered to.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We won't get to 2013 pmn! I highlight a passage from LTB 279/10 dated 31st March 2010, whilst the Interim Agreement is still ongoing, at least so we are informed, and the new proposed agreement is on the table:
This contains a helpful list of questions and answers but crucially has no mention of consulting with the CWU at any stage or level. It also contains a section on resourcing which states that it is up to the DOM to decide the most appropriate approach for their office. Again, there is no reference to the CWU or to existing National Agreements, particularly the Way Forward.
The subject of the LTB is Enquiry Offices but as can be seen from our own CWU correspondence from Bob Gibson WHICH I might add is post the travelling circus and snake oil days that not only is RM reneging on consultation and involvement but sidelining any involvement at all when it states it is up to the DOM to decide the most appropriate approach ............ no mention of resource meetings to involve the CWU.
Out of the mouths of babes then - the pen hasn't even reached the paper and the supposed new understanding doesn't seem to have filtered down as far as Royal Mail - apparently the new understanding is only one sided.

I think that's part of the problem. There are some areas, where they DO care what we want and need. But there are others that don't. For example, I have excellent Reps in my area. But I know of others, where they're a disgrace. But if we were kept in the loop Nationally, rather than just recieving certain areas opinions (as opposed to facts), and the opportunity to provide feedback. Then we'll have a better chance of avoiding all this bad feeling, and disasterous deals. Just look at what happened after 2007's farcical deal got voted in!dvbuk55 wrote:Well you have to ask yourself this question - "Do they remotely care what we want and need" - personally I believe it has become the Wimbledon Self Preservation Society.andy2007 wrote:That would be difficult logistically. Sadly. Although it's possible to keep us in the loop, and give us the opportunity to provide regular feedback to the negotiators. I still think we need a fairly small group to be there in person, to actually negotiate. We just need to be given the neccessary information, and the opportunity to provide useful feedback regularly throughout the process. So they can get what we actually want and need. Rather than what they THINK we might want or need.
Those are the reasons we went on strike - does this agreement fulfil those ambitions?
IMHO, if something isn't done fairly quickly. We could end up with exactly the divisions, and lack of trust in the CWU, that RM are counting on.
