If they had dealt with the question the first time round then there would be no need to revisit it. It was blatantly unfair given the reason for the supplement, perhaps it could have been worded differently, but it still boiled down to delivering the same number of D2D for half the reward. Now is the question going to arise and if it is will the outcome be different........................given it's the same body deciding the outcome.

Not possible Daz.
The delivery supplement is paid pro-rata on worked hours not contracted hours.
How much DS would someone on 25hrs get?..... and how much for someone on 30hrs?
And more importantly someone on 25hrs working 5 hrs overtime?
It would be a legal minefield if it wasn't pro-rata on worked hours.

I hate to nit pick but confrence can vote for free trips to mars if so desired funded by the employer and it would then become CWU policy. Dosent mean though that the employer will decide to embrace CWU policy.

One motion wants it based on hours worked which could well get voted in, but I recall from some posts on RMC that O/T for PT includes DS as DS is a basic pay supplement. Looking at overtime paid for 10 hours a few weeks ago when I was still on 30 hours I had just over £100 gross for the 10 hours. I shall have to look at the handling document for postal conference and see what position the PEC are taking. In act I need to do that on all postal motions and then pick out the motions that I think will interest the mbrs at my D.O the most.

Now i'm not sure how it works but surely whatever happens at conference RM can just laugh at.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You sure about that?

Have you got a download of this somewhere, because as far as we were told it was contracted hours only

On your pay line there is a section marked pay rate £380.41.
This is the full time equivalent basic pay rate plus full-time delivery supplement.
When a part-timer works overtime up to their contracted hours this is the rate they get divided by either 39 or 40 hours depending on whether the SWW has been implemented.
This means that every hour worked contains an element of the DS therefore the DS is paid on worked hours not contracted hours.
On your pay line it will still show your pro-rata DS but your overtime rate will be higher.

Mr fishtank is correct with regards to PT overtime rate.

In theroy there is no reason why alterations to the DS can not be made and ALL D.O based OPGs get the same amount of supplement with PT not having the DS included in their O/T rate.

Unless it breaches employment law ANYTHING is possible!!!

Well, the rate per hr for the first 25hrs is below what people get on 40hrs. After 25hrs it does go up, so you are correct in that and it then is slightly above what a f/t gets, so again you're probably correct in saying that this is due to part of the DS being in that rate. However doing a quick bit of maths shows that if a p/t on a 25hr contract does a 40hr week and a f/t does a 40hr week, then comparing the overall total of both pay including DS there is a difference of just under £7. So overall what you are saying is bollocks.

No it isn't.
If it was there would be a stampede towards Employment Tribunals.
I suggest you recheck your figures.

Back in March I did 10 hours O/T on a 30 hour contract and got a few pence over £100 gross.

I have said it time and time again after the BTA was formed. Part timers would get crapped on. The fact of the matter was this. Part timers should in theory walk in,bag up and go. On this basis that is why the delivery supplement was pro rata as the delivery supplement would of only been about £18 instead of the now £20. However I think the national negotiators where naive in thinking that the s**t w*****s c***s DOMs would take people off the IPS to prep these walks and let full timers leave at the correct time. It was never going to happen!

There fore the part timers come in and prep,(the whole walk by all acounts), before going out. If they bring back their walk because they go over their time they would have some hairy arsed line manager bullying them.

On the other side of the coin,I was also surprised how many reps,(local) had not used the IR framework. Is it just a matter of education? Do our local reps really know the procedure? Even I forget to do so at times,(although my reason is there is not enough hours in the day). Perhaps I should lean on my deputy,(whilst I have one!)

The IR Framework depends on strong Area support.
Without that it just becomes the Bermuda Triangle of disagreements.
If you really want to help part-time staff...push for an outright Royal Mail enforced ban on starting early.
That's where the majority of problems start...put an end to that and bring in mandatory meal relief and you will have solved 10 problems in one.
If Royal Mail are serious about "working all paid hours"...let's see the union call their bluff. :cuppa
