its always been the same , job and finish gave you the incentive to rush around to finish early, but now the incentive is getting harder people still come in early to finish early, but in reality they dont save that much. RM still rely on the postie rushing around, it means they dont have put in or put back any jobs they have taken out or need. It would be the same if they really, really wanted to get rid of cars on delivery, imagine how many more jobs that would create? So they just turn a blind eye to it all and hope no-one complains. There are the special ones in our office that sometimes do 2 walks on ot. they break every rule going and get special treatment ,not like us mere mortals.
I know that some postman have different agendas in rushing around finishing early, like kidsor second jobs. But what they dont realise is that if they are seen to be completing on time AND booking no ot, then one day they will have more put on them and then they will have to come in even earlier and rush around even faster, do you see a pattern emerging?
If you take a step back and think ,my time to finish is say 2.27, then 2 .27 it should be. no more no less. when you get used to finishing on time there is no more stress . Just work your 8 hours thats all rm want . I know people will always want or need ot, but one day it might not be there.
So if anyone has tried working to the letter or is going to , let us know. Just do one street at a time untill you get a clear picture of how much you are giving rm for nothing. I am sure you will be surprised .
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

How long is MY prep time?
Not long enough.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
