No waiting for buses to and from deliveries, no (or very little) dead walking to and from pouch boxes once you've got the walk sorted out, no waiting for drivers to turn up with bags - if it was actually brought in properly it could work ok, but with RM's track record I doubt that will happen.NewPostieUK wrote:What kind of duties are we talking about here? All part time duties? In my office all full timers have a van already, no part timers have a van. Part timers do 'Town Walks'. I can't see any benefit of having a van apart from no drop boxes needed or drivers to drop off bags. There'd be room for larger packets, but where would the time come from? Assuming all mail was sequenced, I reckon I'd make 1/2 an hour, thats one hour for two sharing, hardly enough to do all packets and specials, not to mention extra streets that will no doubt be added.fishtank wrote:There will be no other option avaliable for duties more than 1 mile from the D.O.
Surely it's not going to be all duties. What about walks that are isolated? A couple of the walks I cover are the only part time walks in that town/village. Am I going to share a van, dive to one walk, do half each, drive to another and do half each?
I suppose it'll do away with my 20 - 30 mins walks back to the office, or 30 min waits for a bus...

it will be all duties
it doesnt matter that it doesnt work
i have a duty thats all stairs with hardly any parking
i basically use the van as a big pouch box
i cant just park the van and use pouch boxes as i cant leave the van longer than 1 hour in any space i get
the idea of parking and doing little bots at a time just cant be done
doesnt matter to RM
at first i worked over and completed, now i stream to the extreme

The word is right, I can't tell from a post where you are based, but it is the model to convert to P&L outside of 1 mile from the delivery office and to HCT within a mile. However, I don't believe that this will be rolled out all at once and so for most on here there will be a bedding in period during which time it may well be all change.
Quick Question- is it 1 mile from DO to first del-point or last ?

Re: Park and Loop Nationwide trials to begin April 2010
To answer a question asked, part timers can be mixed with full timers in a P&L, because of the difference in duty time, full timers could find themselves going back to the office with the part timer if they cut off. (They will have different finish times).
Genius....

the bit i love is
stream on Monday
have to take it all on 'quiet ' Tuesday (if its quiet enough)
stream on Wednesday
oh wait now what do on Thursday, thats right just keep on streaming away
not to worry though,im leaving mail and packets every day but those D2D's are done
its simple really,on average i get on the street with about 3 to 3.10 left before having to drive back to the office
even if the duty was 3.30 i still wouldnt have time
yet every day i go through the tantrums and fights
im the most relaxed ive ever been
all i do is stream ensuring it can be done in the time and if i am early i deliver van calls to my time
ive been told i have to deliver all mail i take out so i need to err on the side of caution to ensure i am done for my time

in our office all the finish times are the same for part timers and full timers
part times obviously start later in the morning.
