Im not going to slag you off but i have to ask how do you think the rest of the picketline who all lost money today will feel about you turning up next saturday?smokerjim wrote:I went in today ( after a lot of soul searching, and asking my rep if I should cancel my union membership after the announcement - fortunately he advised I stay in ), and there were 4 others at the unit I was at, ( but I don't know how many if any did ) go in at the main unit, 3 miles up the road - allegedly 2 of them are not union members according to the DOM - which makes me think either he's breaking the habit of a lifetime and telling the truth, or they are members of the NEC ). No one went out on delivery, except managers ( allegedly due to concerns about us getting a shoeing from MOPs / posties from London DOs that live in the area - but I wasn't bothered, meant I could go off to make tea and have a smoke at will ).
Oh yes, the reason it is fortunate that I'm still in the union is next Saturday is my day off, so I'll be getting my arse out of bed 2 hrs early ( my start time next week is 8:30am ) & getting down to get a good spot on the picket.
BTW, if you want to know why I went in today, I'll post it up if requested and all replies to this post will be answered in kind

Believe me It is wrong, fact.
I think your friend works at a particular office 'near' Basingstoke
She told me basingstoke but if you say it's false info then it must be a nearby office

I hope they'd understand my reasons for going in today, they'd appreciate the support, and that they'd remember I get less hours than them ( in addition to no O/T due to being put on a hybrid duty with an 8:30 start time ), finally I'd hope they'd remember that 2 years ago, I was usually one of the first on the picket and one of the last to leave for 6 out of the 8 days( on the first day's strikes even though I was in Wales on holiday, I tried to find the local DO to offer any pickets a donation of cash or refreshments - the other one I missed was just due to over sleepingfishtank wrote:Im not going to slag you off but i have to ask how do you think the rest of the picketline who all lost money today will feel about you turning up next saturday?smokerjim wrote:I went in today ( after a lot of soul searching, and asking my rep if I should cancel my union membership after the announcement - fortunately he advised I stay in ), and there were 4 others at the unit I was at, ( but I don't know how many if any did ) go in at the main unit, 3 miles up the road - allegedly 2 of them are not union members according to the DOM - which makes me think either he's breaking the habit of a lifetime and telling the truth, or they are members of the NEC ). I could go into some detail about my personal circumsances, but the long and short of it is my wife and I both have certain circumstances which formed my decision to work today - I feel sick at not being on the picket today, but I don't feel guilt over being unable to avoid going in today.shadow wrote:No we don't understand. Re: posties working today
Yes, financial obligation is a valid excuse for some Belial and you're further displaying your ignorance by bleating on and on with the same negative attitude. Not every single postie agrees with the strike either but you don't recognise other peoples opinions do you?
Despite my own whinging earlier this week I actually supported the strike by not going in today (so f*ck you both Belial and Postwickpostie). I admit my decision was for the most part swayed by the offer of a day's overtime tomorrow, yep...giving up my one staurday every five weeks to face a sh*tload of mail no doubt. Just goes to show my own heart was in the right place but to lose even one day's wage for some, myself included, is a dilemma many have to face.
I'm disgusted at the reactions I've read throughout this week concerning myself and others who want to support the strike but literally cannot afford to. Your compassion knows no bounds, Not that anyone give's a f*ck here.

So just what is it that you WANT Belial? Do you want to strike, one, two, three days a week? Do you want to aid the cause of yet more apathy and contribute to such a great loss of business that the cuts happening now will be nothing in comparisom to what could be? It doesnt take a genius to recognise this badly timed, badly organised farce of a strike and the detrimental effect this strike is already having on numerous levels.
If you think the clock will turn back to the good old days you are much mistaken? Do you expect a pay rise above inflation in this current climate? Do you honestly believe the extra work we perform daily, the absorbtion, the parcels, the collections will actually be taken away from us? NOTHING will change for the better, just like in 2007 and you're a fool to think otherwise. It's all about money, all about budget and has been since 2003 and any measure that will cost them more hours thus incurring more cost will not happen. The very worse is that things will stay the same but they wont, mark my words.
Oh, I do apologise for expressing an independant opinion.
