You are right, being a letter carrier does not require advanced degrees. Here in the US postal workers cannot strike as they work for the federal government. Currently, most letter carriers here walk for 6 to 8 hours per day, maybe more if they work over time and cover about 10 to 15 miles per day with a bag full of mail weighing up to 40 pounds. Most make over $40,000 a year. If there is 2 feet of snow, they are delivering mail. If it is 95 degrees, they are delivering mail.

:nana Hi. America! I believe however. you are entitled to have your breaks en-route. I also believe you do not have to carry multiple large sized packets, and most of your Flats,have
post boxes downstairs, so no trudging up and down stairs with full bags>Several years ago, one of your posties came here to work for a few weeks, and could not believe how hard we were made to work.Anyway, all the best from across the pond!
