I think the MC side will be rolled out nationally this week, or by the end of next week at the latest.kennierobo wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 16:28The rhetoric of this not being rolled out nationwide until next year is farcical it will be rolled out quicker than Usain bolt can cover a 100 meters

They've only just identified the problems with the ODM pilots - they haven't even solved them yet. I don't think DK wants to torpedo his new toy right in the middle of Peakmas.kennierobo wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 16:28The rhetoric of this not being rolled out nationwide until next year is farcical it will be rolled out quicker than Usain bolt can cover a 100 meters

Isn't it less than 1000 posties that will likely get made redundant, which amounts to ~£28million saved, but we have heard that the USO change will save Royal Mail between '£250million and £500million a year'.
Why isn't the maths working? Have I got my figures wrong?
I guess Royal Mail have already been saving hundreds of millions of pounds year after year as we have been heavily understaffed for 4 years now...
So isn't the saving essentially only going to be ~£28million from the point the USO gets implemented nationwide? RM are already saving the rest.

Re: OFCOM ANNOUNCEMENT ON ROYAL MAIL USO: UNION RESPONSE
The 1,000 figure always seemed low when most rounds will only be going out once every two or three days instead or every day, it's clear at least 25% of posties will not be required, whether they've already left the business and not been replaced is anybody's guess but given most duties in my office are covered, if everybody isn't off sick etc, that seems unlikely? Perhaps the USO plans would never have been approved if they had confirmed where the £300m/£450m are going to be made??norris9 wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 07:30Isn't it less than 1000 posties that will likely get made redundant, which amounts to ~£28million saved, but we have heard that the USO change will save Royal Mail between '£250million and £500million a year'.

Re: OFCOM ANNOUNCEMENT ON ROYAL MAIL USO: UNION RESPONSE
I have heard something about having Bank staff but putting 2 & 2 together it did make me wonder whether surplus staff were going to be these people.
Virtually every office is going to have sickness, special leave, people leaving and walks that just can’t clear etc etc so I wonder whether these excess people are just going to be going to offices as and where they’re needed on any given day.

You will definitely need spare staff, we had them back in the day, walks can't just be left for days like now.GRS wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025, 19:34I have heard something about having Bank staff but putting 2 & 2 together it did make me wonder whether surplus staff were going to be these people.
