It's an invasion of privacy for anyone, neurological disorder or not. The problem here lies with OPGs having to take their break in the van, which according to some people on here is easily done by 'hopping into the nearest cafe or library' or whatever other bullshit they have dreamed up whilst trying to sanctimoniously shut people down.

Re: Cameras in vans
The Trimble is old tech which is being phased out. The new fleet have an integrated ‘Trimble’ which sends info back to base.
The new fleet have a camera display on the rear view mirror and also a screen display which shows what a rear fitted canera sees when you are reversing.
None of these cameras are filming inside the cab.

Have they got provision in them to have dashcams easily retrofitted?Barnacle wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 04:20That’s what we expected when the new vans arrived but no.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 00:50I would have expected them to also be fitted with dashcamsBarnacle wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 22:41The Trimble is old tech which is being phased out. Re: Cameras in vans
We have a 24 plate partner with the rear mirror camera. No trimble and doesn't send data as far as I can tell...at least no stats come up on pda the next day.Barnacle wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 22:41The Trimble is old tech which is being phased out. It does has a charger in the pda dock though so there's a race to nab the keys if sent out with parcels when returning early

Re: Cameras in vans
It can’t have been installed correctly then? Because when it it is, it opens up a whole range of data on the poxy pda. So when they start performance managing us to death, the van, the pda, and the base computer will all be working together to monitor our every fart and sneeze.Shaugi wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 08:50We have a 24 plate partner with the rear mirror camera. Re: Cameras in vans
The vans have an extra camera function which you can see within settings, but it isn’t activated. That could be for use with a dash cam maybeSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 04:49Have they got provision in them to have dashcams easily retrofitted?Barnacle wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 04:20That’s what we expected when the new vans arrived but no.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 00:50I would have expected them to also be fitted with dashcamsBarnacle wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 22:41The Trimble is old tech which is being phased out. Re: Cameras in vans
Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't fitted correctly. I just know that the following day there isn't the usual safety score info the trimble gives on my pda.Barnacle wrote: ↑26 May 2025, 09:04It can’t have been installed correctly then? Re: Cameras in vans
Just came across this article, looks like Asda were considering putting driver facing cameras in their delivery vans, the GMB union were strongly against it.

Oh look! A trade union who actually fights for their members and has a shred of common decency.

Re: Cameras in vans
Ever Trimble I've seen on our fleet of around 50 vans, has the Trimble running off the obd2 port.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 19:10Nah I'm sure it's a standalone unit that records acceleration/deceleration, cornering plus it's got GPS tracking so knows your location and tracks whether you're moving or not and tracks speed limits etc.Mr Rush wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:11I think, but don't quote me, it hooks into the OBD port - so it's pulling speed, engine rpm, instantaneous fuel consumption, etc. If not attached to the port in the footwell (since a driver could intentionally or unintentionally detach it) then wherever else the signals from the engine control unit are accessible.
