As I said, I have a over 700 call double slotted frame. I prep the D2D's as instructed, you are correct it takes for ever which leads me to cutting off on my time.
I can't get my head around why you would willingly do something you are told not to because it is quicker, instead of just cutting off?
Probably because it makes my quality of life worse in the long run. At the end of the day every single frame at my DO is now double slotted and some of us had 6 households this week. They got nested no question. Almost everyone still cut off.
Have you been 'not nesting' yours for the last 6 or 7 years every week now?
Totally baffled, you want more work and bigger deliveries?
Is that what you want?
Firstly your saving time (and breaking rules) by saving that time you give the impression your delivery is more achievable than it is. Do you also come in early, skip meal breaks and run around?
More time spent indoors prepping correctly, less time you have have outside to complete. If instead you do the job properly, more mail fails, the more chance you have or the duties being adjusted to being more achievable.
Your doing yourself no favours in the long run.
Why would you nest your D2D to save time, when you are told not to?
Does it not make more sense to do as instructed, then cut off??
When there are 3 upwards, it’s an absolute balls ache trying to separate them when delivering the mail, much easier to nest them.
I don't want to teach you to suck eggs but I disagree, it takes ages to nest them, some of our clumps still take them home to spend hours nesting them, if you simply prep them into the fitting in some sort of order with the largest one at the back it's still really easy to deliver them, obviously not quite as easy as if previously nested but still overall quicker than titting about nesting them together.
D2D should be done away with as a product. RM should get the advertising firms to move over to using machinable addressed mail. It would probably be far easier to work with in the DOs and they could set the DTS system to release a certain % each day

I find it takes longer not to nest them and as you say, easier to deliver them when nested- much easier. I don’t know of any in my section at my DO who doesn’t nest d2d’s. Each to their own I guess.

Finally, something we can all agree on !
Another thing that RM could use the DTS system for, firms mail on Saturdays, have the machines defer any mail on firms walks where the firm is closed at weekends.

Yeah we briefly had a manager that stopped nesting and and it carried on from there, I've just reread my reply and sorry I think I sounded a bit rude, didn't mean to

Definitely, we've spoken about this before, previously I thought I can't work out where they fit in with the aspiration to be a parcel company though now it looks like they've conceded they're stuck with mail whether they like it or not, I also thought how would they work if the mail really did drop right off as you'd have people having to deliver leaflets only to loads of addresses but I reckon this new method is just the start of that plan to reduce the mail delivery days even further than they're saying now, in that case the call rate would be knocking on for 100%.

RM make a lot of money delivering D2D across the country. More than DSA, mailsort, 1st and 2nd class mail combined. That is your answer to why they want to reduce the USO. So they can still take on these blanket multi drop leaflet contracts whilst still delivering the Kings mail.

That's what I thought, reduce the amount of delivery days so you're going to nearly every house, load us up with a load of d2ds as well, they get the actual delivery part done for practically free, jobs a goodun, well sort of unless you're actually the person delivering it then you'll be physically f****d.

Let's wait and see where we are on Delivery by the middle of November this year. Hopefully they have ousted the CWU leadership back down to their delivery grade duties, got completely rid of the freeloading COM/DOM "42 hour salaried" bonus driven non jobs and replaced all MC driving and processing staff with mostly agency.

Do you have any evidence to back up that claim?
No. But it is blatantly obvious, otherwise RM would get rid of these terrible household contracts. Do you have any evidence that you're not in fact a paid RM shill?

Sure, but as I've said before: most D2D is not handled directly. It's usually Whistl or The Leaflet Company listed on the slip in the box.
I don't see how dealing with RM directly and printing addresses on everything is going to work out cheaper than DSA unaddressed. If it's like the letters market where DSA is dug in like a tick, the economic alternative is not sending it at all.

Don't send it then.
I weighed the 2 boxes and 1 bundle of just one D2D for a firms Walk.
