I try not to think about it really ,go in on time do my tracked and half my walk go home on time until directed differently, collect my wage for an easy week while the company lose money with their hair brained schemes, get a couple more years in and im home and dry.
Perhaps the most "hair brained" aspect of the way this company is being run and losing money is that they're allowing workshy piss takers such as yourself to get away with doing half the work you're paid for and boast about having "easy weeks"?
The only workshy piss takers I know in this company sit in offices doing f**k all without a clue. They call themselves COMS, Line managers, OPLs, RODs, Planners...Gaggle of f***ing idiots. Catch one alone and they can barely muster a hello or look you in the eyes the gutless f***s. Only when they are in a group they give it the hard.
This company is built on the hard work of the OPG and is being ruined by a management class not fit to tie its staffs shoes.

Really is such a great true post. I come on here now and then. More so hoping things are improving for ex colleagues who don’t deserve all the BS they go through. This post sums up Royal Mail to a tee unfortunately. Shame there are so many posters on this site who can’t see through the shambles RM has become. A once great job which was achievable and with pride to take from has all been systematically ruined by overpaid donkeys . Mainly failed postmen who are so out of touch with reality. Horrible state of affairs
Let us be honest here. All these issues have been caused by privatisation. When you make a service industry one that exists to make profit at any cost, then deterioration in quality is inevitable. We should have made more of an effort to prevent it back in the day. If we had made as much of a deal of threatening industrial action back then, it would likely have never happened, alas we pretty much bent over and accepted it.

I don’t know Lou I think the problem at the moment is the data they’re using that implies that the rounds could be bigger is either faulty or being misinterpreted
I really think our union should be checking out this data company’s credentials and seeing if they’ve ever actually done an accurate job

Never one to somehow lay blame at the union or posties feet. As if this companies problems are our fault. Laughable.
The harsh reality is that the vast majority of management havnt a clue in what they are doing. Nepotism is rife and should be a huge cause for concern.
I know of one example down south where a senior manager has given his son a job. Entered the business without a driving license straight out of school and straight into not only a management position but shift management and PCOM! No degree, no qualifications. Just his son! He's a f***ing useless c*** from what I hear as well. We wonder why this company is a mess.

I too have an example of someone becoming a manager without ever applying for the job, they couldn’t apply because the job wasn’t even advertised so no one else had the chance to compete. Why the union rep has ignored what is happening under their nose is anyone’s guess.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Yes, the union, myself included, are to blame for this situation. We didn’t kick up anywhere near as much of a fuss when privatisation was mooted, as this last wave of industrial action. I know. I was there.

No, Lou, RM management are to blame. Yes the union are pitiful and yes it's a shame privatisation wasn't resisted but most people who work for private companies don't experience them paying off people with VR when they're already understaffed, don't experience them suddenly deciding to do away with all quality of service standards, don't experience them randomly chopping, changing and next drastically shifting the staff's working hours, don't experience the sudden retraction of secure sick pay, don't experience the company suddenly decide to make their core product so unaffordable that demand for it ends, etc, etc...
The company is being sabotaged by its own management. It should not have taken the government to save it from that, just a board that want it to succeed and don't seek to destroy it.

There was nothing we could do to stop the privatisation of the company the union was powerless to stop it.
I agree it’s all the managements fault they were given a goldmine of one of the best delivery networks in the world but instead of forward thinking and proper innovation they asset stripped it for short term gain.
Now all we are left with is old equipment and beaten up vans with buildings what aren’t fit for purpose.

You cannot blame RM management for the company being privatised. The government were responsible for that. Everything that has happened since is on them. When you make any company one that exists to make a profit for those at the top, this outcome is inevitable. Welcome to capitalism.
Hardly. You don't need to run a business as a worker's co-operative to have reasonably happy and efficient employees. Equally those factories etc which operated under Communist etc regimes were hardly worker's paradise either. Anything but, apparently.
Intentionally, or Un-Intentionally, Royal Mail are pissing their staff off to the extent that literally thousands have left the business since the Cease Fire to IA.
It used to be a well known Business Practise to do this if you didn't want to pay VR. Perhaps that why RM are doing it. Unfortunately one of the consequences is the loss of decades of experience in most DOs. Admitedly they probably cleared out a lot of wasters that suddendly decided they didn't want to work any harder, but I'm sure the majority were hard working , conscientious Posties that had just had enough.
IF they decided to TRY and put things right they've already lost a lot of the people that could have helped them turn it around!
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

On the bright side, other UK businesses are recruiting a lot of decent hard working individuals.
The delivery sector has become one of the worst employers in this country, most decently time served delivery posties will get a job elsewhere without any problems!

That's good to hear
Unfortunately I think a lot of more Senior Posties are trapped in that "5-10 years before Retirement Period" Not really worth bailing out and trying to start a New Job ....... But ......Stuck in a Job you don't really like anymore. Decisions, Decisions
