Got out a little earlier than yesterday, and finished earlier too. Still busy, but less to knock for and saved time. Got the weekend off, unless they ring me. Place is rammed with yorks full of parcels. Last two days have been hammered.

... second lot of mech didn't turn up in time (for the second Saturday in a row) - so early finish today - but extras on Monday

(and guess what - "Can you come in early on Monday to prep ??" was the lino's lament - well it's money innit ?)
"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

Banged through the work, wanted to get done ASAP as I had some family stuff to do. Skipped break and went straight out. Finished by 11:30am Feeling tired!

What is a normal number of bundles to get on the mech each day?

I ask because my walk hasn't been chucked out two days on the bounce. Today they did a skeletal chuck out which meant seven/eight bundles were left undone for Monday. Brought it to the attention of a manager - told to leave until Monday. Which means I'll have two days mail to do on Monday, usually one of the lighter days. That's before we get to the issue of whether it will even be chucked out. Personally, I think this is unacceptable. On the one hand it's wilful delay and on the same hand from a completely different angle, it's unfair on me. My walk has a packet backlog of about two hundred and fifty packets now. Because of the inability of certain people to address certain problems, I have, for about a week now, been unable to touch a packet (mail is all I can get done in my time - I'm still taking out yesterday's mail today, not through any fault of my own, and shall be taking out Saturday's plus Monday's mail on Monday, again, through no fault of my own). Other people have cleared their walks completely after the backlog whilst I'm made to look like a complete moron, surrounded by packets (virtually swimming in them), with no hope of taking any out, and only just able to take out the monolith of mail that greets me every time I step in the door.

Don't get me wrong, I'm on a bad walk, so it was bound to be more difficult, plus I have been forbidden from using my 'vehicle', exacerbating the difficulty I am facing somewhat, but if another manager looks at my walk like I'm a tw@t, I may well lose it.

Monday might usually be a lighter day for you taurus, but Monday 13/12 won't be. That is why there is a 1hr scheduled attendance attached to it and RM full of originality as ever refer to it as Big Monday.
Up and down the land Sunday deliveries have taken place to clear the backlog, I take it this didn't happen in your DO?
Many offices will have people in on o/t tomorrrow to sort (IPS) - if you aren't one of them somebody in your office could at least do your prep tomorrow to ensure you have some hope of clearing the backlog before February.
I doubt if there will be a "lighter day" between now and xmas eve.

That's a heart-warming story. It will be even worse here because no-one has bothered putting any kind of contingency measures in place. I'm going to have two and a half days mail in all probability, and although we do have Sunday overtime in place, this is only to clear the bigger packets. As of right now I have a coffin full of small packets near to my fitting to go with another packet bag, and that's before we come to the full days mail from today plus whatever we get on Big Monday. No-one will bother doing my prep because frankly, no-one could care. The mail wasn't taken out at all on Thursday - again, no-one cared that I was effectively left with three days mail come Friday/yesterday, and the same again on half of my walk today.

No-one cares about anyone but themselves as far as I can tell, and the managers, well, the less said about them the better.

I personally DGAF whether it's Big Monday, little Monday, incompetent Monday, it's all the same to me. Considering I've got two days mail guaranteed, I won't be taking a single packet out with me - the rest is the manager's problem. I'll be glad if it's a heavy Monday because I'll have the added bonus of leaving some mail behind and creating even more chaos on my fitting.

I was expecting far worse; in fact I finished about par for Monday. The eastern European scrap dealers that have been stealing man-hole covers during the night made the roads interesting though.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

Let's hope so - it was Fishtank's day off today.
Anyway we've only got 2 days before the return of the Ice Age and the total suspension of deliveries for a month.
