Very busy today. Latest finish on a Saturday for me since, well, the run up to last xmas I suppose.

Just over 4 hrs. Delivered everything. Mild day weather wise

Not too bad! not light light but Ok.... had a full yorkie come up just as people had started to bundle up!

Right cold out but plodded around and got finished by 1pm could have done it by 12 if I'd have hammered it! no point these days don't want to give management a reason to cut hours/duties. Just started to rain as I got back to the office. Time for a lunch time cuppa soup :)

Finished at 1.20pm personally, which is about usual on Monday/Tuesday. Later on in the week it will be more like 1.40pm. Bearing in mind that this is what time I post my last letter, rather than what time I finish all the bull back at the D.O. It takes me about 7 minutes to get back to the D.O. on a normal day. Mad-head cars spend much of their time ignoring zebra crossings. I think anyone who speeds through a zebra crossing, whilst there is a pedestrian/cyclist trying to cross the road, ought to have their licence revoked. Especially the second, third, fourth and fifth (etc. - I've counted nine as my maximum) culprits.

Anyway, not bad volume wise today. Typical Monday in that all the DSA crap turned up. I had loads of packets, soft walk next to me had none (never gets any either, even on heavy days). Will no doubt have loads of packets tomorrow as well, and the next day, and the next day.

Finished at about 3, due to walk not fully prepped even though f/t were out the door extra sharp, the driver being unable to wait whilst i bundled and bagged and then being unable to find a set of keys for the walk. Pissed about for an age, found 1 key which turned out not to fit the box it was marked for, had to do the walk arse first with loads of dead walking and put the 1st letter through the door after 11. They couldnt find their arse with both hands and a map these f*ckers.

Just over 3 and a half hrs. Had a spat with the Dom about me going over. Short day for us which makes it a bit difficult to finish in time. Announcement made to inform us that the revision has now been put back until after xmas, in case it upset the customers.

Had an irritating morning with one of the gaffers. They seem to balance the work-force at our place by having people work their days off, so naturally, they asked me. I've nothing against working my day off sometimes, but it annoys me when you're treated like some kind of criminal when you just don't feel like it. Personally, I plan on pulling an all-nighter and watching the first day of the cricket, so I've no intention of going into work on my day off for what would be another £34 in my wage slip. Had I been offered a more appetising choice of duties, my interest might have been piqued. But why have a day off at all if you're going to be given the third degree for refusing to work on a day that you expected to be yours by right?

It seems with managers, you're only as good as your last bit of overtime.

Anyway, in terms of the rest of my day, everything was okay. Hardly any packets, hardly any mail. The worst streets have already been done in terms of my d2d, which will provide relief when it inevitably gets busy starting tomorrow. I couldn't help but feel that today was a bad omen of things to come. This was as light as any Tuesday for a good month or so, which means to me that the next few days are likely to be terrible. Tuesday, harbinger of doom? Hard to believe it's starting to get dark at about half 3 as well. I've agreed to some weekday overtime in the next few weeks - I'll probably be posting while it's dark. At least no-one will be able to spot me as I walk by so they can have a moan. Got to look at the positives, sometimes.

Further positives? My contract's nearly up . No more posting on here, perhaps.

Went in early for a union meeting, just about to leave depot as there was another two hours before my officail start time of 0945, when I thought I'd see if my lino could use an extra set of hands for some extra money in my wageslip. Didn't expect anything being a Tuesday, but low and behold...

Got to finish double-prepping my own walk plus another for two hours overtime!

Damn good job too, as I had 7 SD and 14 recorded today, took from 0900 to 1015 to get my walk together (did other walk to completion before tackling what was left of mine). Finished just after 1500 on my day off, but if I had turned up at my usual 0945 start, would have been lucky to leave by 1100 and then would have had a "cannot reach this SD by 1300" crisis for the first time since resign in April!

Had 8 signatures fail, plus a load of packets, came back to depot with about 25% HCT!

I don't know whether it is just my office but Tuesday is fast becoming the day from hell! Literally twice as heavy as yesterday (which isn't too difficult really, Monday was strangely quiet ). Had 10 specials spread over my two walks (Park and Loop) and about 20 friggin recordeds, most of which were in the form of goliath packets. Finished bang on time at 2:30, which was a full hour slower than yesterday. When i got back to the office there was a ton of huge packets dumped on my frames for delivery tomorrow...thank God it's my day off! It's strange to think but since Park and Loop i consider getting home at 3pm as "early", whereas before it that would be a late finish on a heavy Thusday or Friday.

My dog must despise Park and Loop, he's bursting by "Walkies" time when i get home!

Very heavy. Took over 4 hours today. Shattered at the end and it has been frosty all day. Ah well, day off tomorrow so I'm off out for a few pints.

Took me nigh on four hours as well, not a great day. Managed to hoist some of my packets on a cover driver, which was a relief, because I was going to be overwhelmed otherwise. I'm sick to death of the bloody packets, why can't they just frak off? Why can't those people who have to buy something EVERY BLEEDING DAY just frak off as well?

On the plus side, I'm training tomorrow to do a walk.

IT is hell today, so many packets, and flat and record delivery.

One house I couldn't deliver due to 3 large swans walking round the door waiting for something.

I am knackered and tired and fed up.
