Who decides on the £500 limit of the C2WS? I'd like to contact them to put the case for an increase. Next time I want a better bike.

Re: Cycle 2 work scheme
Your fighting a losing battle if you think that RM will up it's £500 limit. They just see this scheme as a HUGE liability. 99% of people think that a £500 bike is well expensive. The cycle to work scheme was never set up with Pinarello, Colnago, Cervelo in mind.redneck wrote:Who decides on the £500 limit of the C2WS? Get over it and move on!
If your really that interested in getting one there are LOTS of top end bikes in various sales couple it with interest free credit or 0% credit card deal and you'll end much with a much better deal than C2W

Re: Cycle 2 work scheme
You missing the point! 99% of people havent a clue, like yourself, that £500 gets you crap all in todays market. Inflation is a killer, components are cheaper and are less reliable etc you really have to look at the bigger picture. A bike that was £500 in 2007, is probably a £750 bike in todays market. So i would say a £500 in todays market would be like getting a £350 bike, which is nothing more but a toy.indio wrote:Your fighting a losing battle if you think that RM will up it's £500 limit. JONSBOY..Yer right. My Mtb wheels alone cost me £300 and that was built by a mate, and I had the front hub already.
£500 is NOT a high price, a Grand is much more realistic...Same as the NHS offer I believe.
Millions spent on these "Golf Trolleys" tho...

RM would argue that £150 would be more than sufficient for providing a bike to get you to and from work, which is the intended purpose. Im sure theyd point out theyve been generous to go quite a bit above this.

Re: Cycle 2 work scheme
They would argue wrong in that case. A bike for £150 will not last long without a major service, or parts meltdown, I used to work for Halfords so believe me I know.
Can someone give me an e-mail address to request a review of the £500 limit, it's completely outdated.

Re: Cycle 2 work scheme
Try Ebay - cycle section - set search to - Buy It Now - set preference to newest listed. If you're lucky and you know what your looking for can find some bargain bikes around the £500 mark. Lots of people buy good bikes, then get bored/lose interest very quickly and sell them, take advantage.

Looks good, it's been reduced to £430 from £600! Had a boardman mountain bike but wasn't good in the road!BettySwollocks wrote:thats the one i have, belting bike !Tank wrote:Just applied for the second time, got my eye on a boardman hybrid bike!

Re: Cycle 2 work scheme
I had the Boardman MTB sport before the hybrid, didn't rate it at all (had a Marin Muirwood hybrid before that and that was twice the bike...so went back to having a hybrid)
before you get your bike, have a look through the pages on this thread, there are printable vouchers you maybe able to use,
there was a £100 voucher towards accesories which was a couple of years old, i emailed Halfords customer care to see if it was still valid and they replied that it was,
when i went to the store to collect bike and redeem voucher they told me the voucher WASN'T valid, but let me use it as i was told by customer services that it was ok
got myself a Garmin edge computer !
