As I've said before, these lump sums are a bad idea, CWU should really be trying to get any monies into our wage packet, so we can have it pensionable, but as has been mentioned before most members don't see past the pounds signs.

Its a done deal then... I mean all these above who don't currently get D2D money are laughing. 6.5% over 3 years + £1500 and maybe some other bonus that you are not mentioning yet... and an extra £30 per week. They won't even bother reading anything else... oh and working 2 hours less... god it will be "where do I sign"!

I remember when the Way Forward Agreement was voted in & the biggest losers were the Drivers - i cant remember the PHG's or Delivery boys voting as a 'Union' then ?? In fact i am still to meet anyone that will openly admit to voting for The Way Forward ?? It sounds a fair deal to me.

I sincerely hope the £500 lump sum in april is not instead of the £400 colleage share we are due to get in april!!

As for the £1000 for a revision, i reckon we will all but sell our arses to get that!!

Also throw as much d2d at me me as you want but there has been no mention of how fair workloads are to be calculated.Under the present regime longer deliveries and more d2d would kill a lot of +40 posties.

In the offices where they are on 4.15hr deliveries with shared vans the fatigue and tiredness is less than on 3.30hr delivery spans due to getting the weight of the shoulder.

So dingo says,but only if it is planned and applied properly.....with TWO drivers.

Two drivers make it easier to plan and do the delivery’s but it isn’t necessary, it can take 2-6 weeks of trial and error for two posties to get their park and loop working well.

Explain to me how park&loop works with 1 driver and 1 non-driver,I'm curious as to who moves the van and what the non-driver does when the van is moved does he have to carry more/deliver more or does he just stand about waiting?
And how does the whole packets.tracked and specials thing work with two in a van?does one drive and the other run out with the packet?Or is the non-driver left to deliver while the driver does the packets?
Does the driver have to finish at the D.O while the non-driver can feck of home or does the driver take the van home and drop of his mate on the way home?
Does he pick him up in the morning?what if they have different start times?What if he's part-time or family friendly?What if he finishes at 1 and i finish at 2?

You both work in a 'loop' so you should both go off on your bursts and eventually end up in the same place, where the van is parked. The only waiting you do is due to individual speeds. Office fallouts are aplenty and backstabbing apparent when people complain of 'slow posties'. In a well planned round only one driver is required because you both get back to the van at the same time.

And how does the whole packets.tracked and specials thing work with two in a van?does one drive and the other run out with the packet?Or is the non-driver left to deliver while the driver does the packets?

The driver does a 'packet burst' while the walking postie does an extra 'walking burst'. The Van driver meets the walking postie when done. Normally the van driver will be back first.

No the driver does not have to finish at the D.O, you can take the van home if you sign for it.

If you do not want to drive you do not have to, they cannot force you. There is not a driving allowance for it. If after planning, over 80% of the office has changed there should be a full office repick. Normally the rounds change slightly but it depends on the complications of the rounds you are on. Basically you'll keep your delivery you are on with 'some bolted on'. Really depends on how many rounds are lost.

The duties are totally mixed, PT/PT, FT/PT, FT/FT. The only difference between full time and part time is 'office work' (IPS and throwing in rounds).

Can I just clarify your post? With the Way Forward ( before my time admittedly ), in your opinion, the drivers took the biggest hit and gained the least / lost the most - is that right? So, now that it looks that drivers will do alright out of this agreement ( certainly better than deliveries ) does that make it ok to think "I'm alright, Jack"?
