If youve been with R M for 5yrs your contract is classed as "substansive" & the only way they can ask you to drop
your hrs is by mutual agreement a "buy down"
Or they can terminate your contract (by giving notice) and offer you a new one including the revised terms - effectively sacking you and taking you back on.
Although RM will not follow this procedure so don't panic........i think..
Seems to me that if we don't like the agreement we refuse to accept it. They have to ballot us don't they? If we refuse it, they have to go back to the negotiating table, and everything remains the same until we get what we want. That's how I read it. Funny thing is, I don't remember getting consulted about any of it at any time by anyone. Sometimes I just think F**k it, the industry's not worth saving anyway. Other times I think we're the latest in a long line of public servants having our industry decimated for the sake of private profit. Do we make a stand or just roll over and die? You tell me.

Or they impose everything by Executive Action without any of the (dubious I grant you) benefits the CWU have managed to negotiate into the deal.

It's a tough one Roy to be honest.
I think we all know RM won't wait forever for this deal so if it is poor we have some tough times ahead.
Lets just hope it exceeds our expectations and we all love it.
Otherwise be prepared to hit the gates.
