The problem with this is and i had the same probs a few years back when moving,is that they dont have to give you the time off if your quota for that week is booked up.
Years ago they used to give you 2 days or summin like that, but they can't afford that now
Common sense will tell you that it wont hurt as it's obviously a genuine occasion and it's a big thing.
But i've just mentioned 'common sense' in a post about managers which obviously dont go.

Thats why the sick is so up,what people do is to check the week out,if it's full, then you've got no chance at all of geting it off.
The Budget is more important than the employees-END OF.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Its now a Special Leave Issue.... Go and ask for SPL LV (A) PAID as it is a URGENT DOMESTIC ISSUE!!! Well if you dont move u will be homeless!!!! And i know that will be deemed as a SPECIAL CASE... Now you are allowed so many days off a year SPL LV PAID. (A) I think its 5 but i might b wrong??? But i know spl lv is used for cases when you cant get to work and in the IR framework u are allowed them ask your Rep to look this up!!!!! Even if u take 1 days unpaid out of the four or tell him u will go off O/A. Other absence and cover it with ?? U guessed it A/L.. Annual Leave....

Its a joke, they have RULES but never keep to them!!!!

OUT

GOOD LUCK SMARTIE!! :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

ASKED MY NIGHT SHIFT MANAGER LAST NIGHT HE SAID HE COULD SEE WHAT HE COULD DO. (YEH YEH).
I SPOKE TO THE STROPPY STAFFING OFFICER THIS MORNING HE SAID THEY GOT TOO MANY PEOPLE OFF ON NIGHTS NEXT WEEK AND THEY ARE STRUGGLING TO COVER THEM. BOO HOO!!
NOW MY UNION REP WAS HAVING A WORD ALSO THIS MORNING SO I WON'T KNOW ANYMORE UNTIL TONIGHT WHEN I GO IN. :arrrghhh

GOD THE GRIEF YOU GET FOR ASKING TO USE YOUR LEAVE UP.
I SHOULDNT HAVE TO TAKE SPECIAL LEAVE WITH NO PAY WHEN I GOT ALL THESE DAYS TO USE AND GET PAID FOR IT.

LET YOU KNOW THE OUTCOME. :wave

just seen proposals for 6am starts, please excuse any spelling mistakes have not laughed :funneh :nana :Very Happy so much in ages.
Some duties to stay 5am,some to go to 6am, some to 6.15 and some to 7am, and a cut in afternoon SA`s and indoor work.
A more clueless and un-informed bunch of so called managers in one office, then again perhaps not?

Trojan, if the late starts are supposed to be because of the mail not arriving untill later then ;

A - why aren't all offices from the same mail centre being changed at the same time

B - the duties that remain at 5am start, what exactly are they going to do until 6 when the remainder arrive to sort this late mail

C - how come we are getting the mail ok now when the speed restrictions are already in place

D - why try to force this in whilst we're in a national dispute unless it's to provoke us

I don't normally post under this topic but thought this would make you chuckle.
Yesterday I asked my D.O.M if I could hold a union meeting as some things that were said in W.T.L.L. were slightly untrue, anyway was told no, so I said I would take them over the park across the road from the office in their meal relief time to which She said I couldn't do that either.
So this morning I left a message on the frames that I was taking my meal relief today over the park and people were free to join me.
At 5:30 my D.O.M called me in the office to ask what the meaning of the message was, to which I said I was just letting people know I was taking my meal relief and She couldn't stop people joining me, and If She wanted to involve her boss I would be quite happy for her to call him. I was later told that She was going to suspend me but didn't want to make me a martyr so decided against it.
Imagine that: being a martyr for announcing you're taking your meal relief!!!!
The world has gone officially mad. :dance :lfo :cfo

Don't wanna pee on your bonfire but I once received a 1 year black mark on my record for taking my meal relief outside the office grounds. When I appealed this I was told that in fact it is true according to the rules, because it's a paid break you must remain on royal mail premises.

Just be careful, you're not paranoid they really are out to get you.

My day was crap! Whole office got told they HAD to take part of an uncovered walk. Did I? No way. I'm a 30hr contract and Have done that this week. Didnt stop my manager reminding me my contract is temporary....didnt work, just made me angrier :mad
When I die, bury me face down so everyone can kiss my arse! :o)
