The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our industry is in decline with falling mail volumes and technological advances. Job losses are inevitable. What we have to do in this business is manage that decline and endeavour to grow our parcels market as much as we can to offset falling letter volumes. We can manage inevitable job losses through natural wastage and voluntary redundancy where possible, but industrial action would really decimate confidence in Royal Mail as a brand and as a reliable business partner. Those job losses would rapidly escalate and like the coal industry in previous decades, the Royal Mail would be left fatally wounded. Industrial action has always led to industrial decline and job losses. Let us not go down that road.daveyeff wrote:answer this....how many job losses do you think will occur if we do nothing!!SierraOscarBravo wrote:It is the union barons and their militant backers with their obsession with industrial action who threaten the business. This course of action will do nothing but hand business and revenue to our competitors and lead to massive job losses. If you choose to fall hook, line and sinker for the union propaganda that is up to you. The public and our business competItors reserve the right to take their business elsewhere.daveyeff wrote:here we go again with the ''anti union'' barons garbage!! you are like a broken record. you will be standing on your own two feet in the dole queue if you continue to support a board that is corrupt, peddling propaganda, and wants to cut costs and the workforce by a third. wake up ffs.

SOB I know the new law and the point is the CWU in every industrial action ballot has got about 60% and therefore above the new threshold. Union Barron's don't vote in industrail action union members do.
The fat cats on the board should take their noses out of the trough as they all just received their payouts on the share incentive scheme to the tune of over a million for Moyà. This act the same time as our pensions are being attacked and we told we are over paid and under worked. And you wonder why people will support the CWU and not the company ?

SOB you got the law wrong. The CWU is not defined as a key public sector workforce so all the CWU need to do is get over the threaehoks of 50% of the membership voting to action a strike.

That may be the legal minimum, but morally you have no legitimacy if more than half the workforce do not support industrial action.dingo wrote:SOB you got the law wrong. Just like the only legitimate MPs are those who have an overall majority of the votes cast ?
And what about Police Commissioners elected from just over half of a 12% turnout ?

I don't disagree, but if less than half a workforce votes for industrial action then morally there is no case for it.Lounge Lizard wrote:SOB,SierraOscarBravo wrote:That may be the legal minimum, but morally you have no legitimacy if more than half the workforce do not support industrial action.dingo wrote:SOB you got the law wrong. You think it is tosh. That is your prerogative. In years to come we shall see who the turkeys voting for Christmas were. Scargill and the NUM destroyed the coal industry and thousands upon thousands of jobs. If he is some kind of role model for all you militants calling for industrial action then I pity you for you are as good as throwing away the good working conditions we enjoy at Royal Mail and for what???stevie247 wrote:I honestly can't believe i'm reading this tosh the biggest attack on our T+C and a POSTMAN? believes the MANEGMENT? line.£35000 a year maybe in london the rest of us £23000 full time.I will be voting for strike action like the many postal workers before me that secured the T+C we now enjoy.Take the lump sum bribe and don't vote for strike action and your a turkey voting for christmas.
